dj salty, rebecca cherkoss, hails from the west coast of north america. a collector of vinyl since the mid 80s's, rebecca spent the majority of her time hanging out in LA dj shops, club hopping and listening to lots of radio, especially the early hip hop pioneer---> K-DAY am radio.
Always the one to control the tunes at any party, rebecca began entertaining audiences at college parties with one turntable, a cd player and a tape deck. hey now! soon after rebecca's migration to san francisco in 96, the aspriring dj got her first pair of technics 1200s, a long way from the fischer price turntable she received at age 5.
But first, a tag! was needed. while using the name Queen B, rebecca discovered that lil' kim was also using the moniker, so she decided to go for something more sublime.....salty was the winner

Ay! First off, thanks for the support as usual, the movement is taking its first steps, I promise to win in the Hip Hop election for Pope, trust me, but! the album is here! got a track with BRU LEI on it, tracks by Nick Farhi, Sachin Arkitek, finally, and you can buy it now! If it says out of stock, it wont be for long, Holla!
Salty is one of the only peeps who could go classic soul toe-toe to with me and win! Dang she can break out some classics. Wow, Fred Milton in da house! Miss Girl would loop the same song twice if it was that dope. Seeing Public Enemy with Salty was a major life moment.
DJ Salty has been a BIG influence on what I listen to these days. I always thought I knew a lot about funk/soul, until I met Salty. She's definitely been a long-lasting influence.
