Just me, Jemima Rose and sometimes/previously some other lovely people
Influences
Well I used to sit in the back of the car, driving on winding mountain roads in the south of france with my family, listening to Pearl Jam and The Beatles, Steely Dan and Neil Young. Now I live in a Cow Shed in a valley with my Ginger Tom and my wood burner, where I sit by the window looking out into the bleakness, shrouded by great oak trees and a moonlit sky, dreaming of adventures, swimming in the sky and falling in love.
Sounds Like
" ...With melancholic electro-acoustic sketches, it's more Elliott Smith introspection than KT Tunstall gusto. Singer Jemima Rose's honeyed Jewel-like vocals rise pleasingly above the purposeful strumming"
Venue, September 2007
It is morning down on the farm and the crisp winter sun brews over the cows and the sheep, frosting their fur in a coat of dew.
Rising and shining, Jemima stretches out of her bed. She can hear the jingle of bells as her ginger cat comes mewing and chortling for some breakfast.
The view from her bungalow is magical. Great oak trees tower over with their burnt-orange leaves rusting on the ground. The Squirrel darts from branch to branch – residing in the bird hut. The chicken’s squawk from their roosting house, and man-made noise is nowhere to be heard. Even the tractors are silent this morn.
And so Jemima picks up her guitar and crafts a story by her windowsill. She writes of love, loss, hope, the sun, the winter. And then after the day is done, she will meet her boys in the barn where they each will play their musical toys: Bash, tap, tinkle, strum, smooth, pick, ponder, blow, breath.
They call themselves She Tells Lies. Because she does.
Funnily enough a violinist has just sort of crossed my path, so I've passed on your name/Myspace. Not quite sure of the details because it's through someone else. Beth Porter seems to be the only cellist you ever find playing with bands these days, I'm sure she'll be familiar to you. She's very good.
As for the cricket, I have test match special on in the background but that's more for Henry Blofeld's excellent commentary than the match itself. Still it feels like Summer now.
Another amayzen set J!! Sounded well nice! We've got a bit of a break from live shows now so hopefully I'll have some time to have a play with one or two of your Mad March tracks! :oP
Thanks so much for playing with us on Thursday. Sorry that the sound was shite, didn't know they had an in house tech (and he said the band the previous night had overloaded it or something!)
Hopefully I'll regain use of my finger soon and will be able to start having a crack at that 2nd guitar part I mentioned :o)
Catch you at The Fleece, that should be another fun night!! :o)
Details of how to apply for this years festival can be found in our blog or on our website. Check it out!

That's right! "The best swingabilly band in town!"

We really enjoyed your set at the Louie the other night. You've got a cracking voice. Give us a shout if you ever need any support in the local area. Matt
Thanks for the kind comment. Sorry for the delay, but I've been putting the final touches on the debut record. It's up now on itunes and amazon (amiestreet, rhapsody, etc.) There are 2 sides: Sink and Fall. "Sink" is more pop and electronic; "Fall" is more punk and country. We appreciate all your support. Have a happy MWU year
