Who is Shez Khan?
Born and raised in Kenya, Africa, Shez Khan is a myriad of cultures and traditions all rolled into one. Born into a family that emigrated from India to Kenya four generations ago, Shez Khan identifies with both her African and Indian roots. Moving to Canada at the age of thirteen gave Shez a distinctly urban environment as well which in turn added to her artistic conscience.
Today Shez Khan is the name of an artist who writes, composes and sings music that touches the soul of people worldwide as it identifies with people across generations and cultures. Experimenting with hindi, Punjabi, English and Swahili vocals, Shez Khan’s music is a pleasure to people across the globe on stages with artists such a RISHI RISH, H-DHAMI, MUMZY, SWAMI, JAGUA< DELHI TO DUBLIN, MALKIT SINGH and AMAN HAYER.
“When I began to write music, I did it with the intention of finding a place. Finding out who I really am, and inviting people to experience the cultures that I have been brought up in. The result is music that touches the younger generation as well as our older generations and binds together people of all cultures, race and communities. It really is a reflection of the melting pot that is today’s society.”
Shez Khan has had the opportunity to showcase her music at many live events in Canada as well as internationally in countries such as Portugal, Kenya and the United States. Along with her shows, Shez has also been featured on a number of media outlets such as newspapers (The Vancouver Sun, The Link, The Voice), Radio Stations (Red Fm, RJ1200, Radio Sur Sangam among others), as well as TV appearances (Channel M)
