Daan Hendriks is one of the founding members of Humanworkshop, a loose collective of producers and audio professionals who have been releasing both CD albums and free net releases for almost a decade, whilst providing sound design and music production services to creative industries. Daan used to release his music under the moniker BASIC, and has as such released a solo album, some tracks on various compilations and multiple free downloadable tunes.
His music is characterised by strong, steady hiphop- and breakbeats, atmospheric sound layers and ethnic flute melodies and is reminiscent of artists such as Amon Tobin, Prefuse 73, DJ Krush, and similar leftfield electronica/breaks producers. His live sets range over a broad selection of tempos and styles and are always highly uplifting, mixing and mashing up his own tunes in combination with elements of tracks by obscure and well-known artists alike.
