The Shields of Faith gospel quartet group was formed in May of 1985. The goal of the Shields is to minister the Word of God through song. The Shields of Faith are blessed by God to have the gift of music. The continued desire of the Shields of Faith is to lift up praise and glory to our Lord and bring as many as possible to Jesus Christ.
The original four members of the Shields of Faith were brothers in Christ, Harold Steen, Leeroy Owens, Harold Ware, and Esmond Woodruff. Over the years, several members have come and gone, each one blessing the Shields in their time.
In 1993, the Shields of Faith released their first album entitled – ‘We Are Who We Are’. The album contained some heart thumping, toe tapping, songs of praise as well as some heartfelt, prayerful songs of personal testimony and worship.
In 2007, the Shields of Faith released the second CD entitled ‘Keeping the Faith’. The CD is a mix of contemporary, inspirational, and down home southern toe-tapping jubilee make you want to get up out of you seat songs of praise and worship.
Both CDs are aimed at raising the spirits of believers and non-believers. We want be a means by which God may touch the hearts of everyone so that they might come to know the love and goodness of the Almighty.
The Shields have performed at many local churches, business functions, and social gatherings i.e. the annual Soul Food Festival at La Villita in San Antonio. The Shields often perform in Austin, TX at Stubbs BBQ. An article in Southern Living Magazine on Stubbs BBQ pictures the Shields of Faith. The Shields have performed in the Baton Rouge, LA area, as well as Dallas, Houston, and between. The Shields of Faith have been featured in the gospel tent at the annual Austin City Limits Festival for three years and are scheduled for the Austin City Limits Festival in September 2007.
We thank God today for his goodness, his blessings, and all the things He has bestowed upon our families and us. We have faith in his promise to us that all things are possible if we believe. We pray that God will continue to bless you and your family, and that God will allow us through our message in song to bless you as well.
