Shifty started off as a up and coming Youth Club MC in Manchester's growing Grime scene, but his rise to prominence has been both impressive and at a alarmingly fast rate. By 16, he had made him self a perminant fixture on Manchester's local radio stations as part of the legendary 'Mayhem Crew' as well as already making an appearance on BBC 1Xtra. Captitalizing on the buzz he created, Shifty then independantly released his debut mixtape 'Get Ya Hustle On Vol.1' (GYHO) which went on to sell over 1000 copies with minimal promotion besides word of mouth.
After GYHO Shifty went from strength to strength leading to a place in the final of Manchester talent contest 'Urban Superstars' in 2006. Although he didn't win he was arguably the best performer on the night. He turned the disappointment around not long after, winning a competition hosted by EA along with fellow Mayhem members Slayer and Blizzard, which resulted in them shooting a video for the single 'We're Big Like'.
'We're Big Like' gave Shifty the platform for his assault on the UK scene, shooting straight to number one in the Channel U charts and staying there. It made everyone who didn't already know take notice. He followed up the success of 'We're Big Like' with his next independant mixtape 'Get Ya Hustle On Vol.2'; a huge hit selling over 3000 copies. The mixtape was successful not just in Manchester but all over the UK, cementing his place as not only a front runner in the Manchester scene, but as an established artist period.
After 'We're Big Like', Shifty featured in other videos on Channel U which further raised his profile leading to Grime legend Wiley taking notice of his talent. This collaboration resulted in the freestyle 'Off The Radar'. As you read this, 'Off The Radar' is still getting spins from top DJ's up and down the country and it is just a taster of things to come from this exciting young artist, who at the age of 20 has the world at his feet.
