Mark's Interests

Music	I dig live music - most weekends I'm at the Hoey, or the Annandale, or the Mandarin Club, or ... Currently, I'm listening to the Dresden Dolls, the Thaw, and the Mountain Goats a lot. On a broader scale, I love Tom Waits, XTC, Soul Coughing, Television, RJD2, DJ Shadow, Fugazi, the Cruel Sea, and a whole bunch of other bands you probably don't care about. I have way too many albums. The Maladies would be up there too, but they don't have a record out. Hint frigging hint, fellas. Check their myspace page, they're top blokes and excellent musicians.
Television	Don't watch much tv. I like a few shows, like Firefly, Scrubs and Arrested Development, but don't watch anything regularly. The idea of a centrally dictated cultural perspective is too awful for words.
Books	I read a lot. Currently I have a few books on the go - I'm rereading "Money" by Martin Amis, as well as a book on the social use of the word "fuck" called "Language Most Foul". My favourite authors are Louis DeBernieres, Peter Carey, Martin Amis, Will Self, Iain Banks and Greg Egan, but I'll read almost anything apart from Dan Brown and Dickens.
