Nice tuneage...
thanks for adding us to the Shindig Nation!
Wasn't Lloyd Thaxton the host of the TV show "Shindig" in the late 60's?

I figured out how to rate songs and post song comments. It turns out that my pop up blocker/virus program was blocking the comments page but I have it fixed now! Nina

But how does one come up with a hook? I guess that's where talent and a gift for music come in! I am wondering why on your page in the top right hand corner where I play your songs that the comments and rating and all that doesn't seem functional. I would like to see more pictures on your page of you writing and working in the studio and playing instruments and pictures of the lead singer on latest cd. I know, I know who has time for all that! Have you seen a difference in volume with your song's nomination? Nina

The hook of the song is what catches the ear of the listener... sometimes it's the chorus, sometimes the bridge. Here's a couple of hooks ... We all live in a yellow submarine.... The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind... Here comes the sun.... and so on

Scott: Please tell me more about the hook. Nina

I get my ideas anywhere where I'm not near an instrument. I write the tunes in my head. Paddy McAloon from Prefab Sprout and Rufus Wainwright are two lyricists I really enjoy. For music, I listen to jazz, bebop, bigband, so, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, etc. So there's a jazz influence in my music. My songs start as non-fiction but they spin off into a fiction life of their own. So real events inspire me, and then it takes off from there. I usually think of the hook first, and work backwards, although I've come up with a verse first and then had to work from there.

Scott I would comment about how/where/when you do most of your song writing. What inspires you? Who are your favourite lyricists? How long does it take to write a song? What is the process? Do you have some lyrics in mind first or a melody? How has being a father and husband contributed to your music? I'd love to know more about that. Nina

You should comment that you are pretty, talented, a great mother, wife, cook, singer, musician, writer, music engineer, sister & friend! A real renaissance person with shin splints!
