Influences
In the 1990's Rich and Marty were members of the Curb Records recording group Perfect Stranger. Here are two videos they had featured on GAC and CMT at that time. The first one is for a song called Miracle, and featurres both Marty on drums and Rich on guitar. The second one has Rich only, and is for the nunber 4 hit song they had entitled Right to Remain Silent.
And here's the big Hit song (4 on the Billboard Charts,we were nominated for New Group of the Year at the ACM awards in 1995) Right to Remain Silent.
Now here are some clips of Shinebox playing live at various gigs-the first two were shot at the Halfmoon Grill in Gresham, by Grant Cook. The ones that follow are from Greg Hullett's company party in 07.

Shinebox formed in the spring of 2003 from members of the country group Perfect Stranger and Ricky Lynn Gregg. Their aim was to have a side project different from the music they were playing on tour with their main groups. The music they wanted to play was the music they grew up on- Rock and Roll.
By the beginning of 2004 Shinebox had become the fulltime group for each of it’s 3 members, leaving behind the major label record deals and fancy tour busses-the real work had just begun.
Donny Hyles (Bass guitar) was a member of legendary 70’s rock band First State Bank. He recorded with Head East on their Choice of Weapons album. His father Vernon Hyles founded the Rangers Quartet who are members of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Donny is a multi instrumentalist and plays bass/ guitar/ and keyboards.
Marty Arbter (Drums) attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood California in 1987. He performed 6 nights a week for 2 years with guitar legend Speedy West Jr. He also toured with Ricky Lynn Gregg and was a member of Perfect Stranger for 8 years. Marty has played drums on over 400 songs as a session drummer and member of various bands.
Richard Raines (Guitar) was a founding member of Curb Records group Perfect Stranger in 1985 and toured with them until 2003. While with the group they were nominated for New Group of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 1995. Their song Right to Remain Silent went to 4 on the Billboard Charts, and stayed on the chart for 26 weeks.
In late 2007 Shinebox attracted the attention of musician and producer Rhandy Simmons. After hearing the bands originals and seeing their live performance he offered to sign them to his in house record label Siesta Records LLC. This led to the recording of their debut c.d. Channel One which contains 15 Shinebox originals recorded at Simmons Gilmer Texas studio Siesta Ranch.
2009 saw the trio adding more new venues to their gig calendar, and with the May 09 signing with Jagermusic they hope to get their brand of Texas rock and roll out to even more fans across the country.
Summer of 2009 and they are in pre production meetings to start recording their second disc for Siesta. 2009 has been a very exciting year for Shinebox, and 2010 could be the best yet.
