Ship High In Transit was born from an idea four friends had who shared a love of music and a complete lack of music lessons. Talking about music was great, but playing music? So we bought some instruments, camped out in our now drummer's basement and started playing tunes. The beginning was frightening, comprised mostly of E and G chords, snare fills, basic rhymes, and a few ill-advised attempts at covers. It was something.
But time passed, and while the struggle was great and the learning curve was, well, curvaceous, our love for music and for playing original music grew, until we finished a handful of songs and decided to try our luck at a live venue, and thus began the time of Ship High In Transit in the Boston music scene.
Since 2006 we've played everywhere in the Boston area, from the All Asia Cafe that gave us our first real break to Lounges de P.A.'s and Abbey, the Greatest Bar, the Bulfinch Yacht Club, T.T. the Bear's, the Middle East upstairs and downstairs, Bill's Bar, Copperfield's, the Church and so on. We greatly appreciate the support we've received from our families, friends, old and new fans, venues and show promoters alike.
At the end of last summer our bassist Carl moved on to new adventures in the great state of Texas. But we've carried on, written an entire new set of songs and are working our way back into the live music scene we dearly miss. If you like what you hear let us know, and of course, check out those show dates above and come say hi to us in person, we love meeting new people. Rock on.
Hey guys...We'll be ready to play a show with you soon. We're still mixing the record and rehearsing. Let's definitely get some shows together! Rock on! We'll be in touch. - A&RB
Sup dudes? I'm bored at work waiting for Flawless to get out and I wanted to check how the show went on the 19th. Y'all need to keep on top of post gig blogs... definately not enough SHiT blogs.
yeah, new destroyer is good stuff. The Vice review of it is pretty funny too.
"He sounds like he’s a top-hatted traveling merchant in a Broadway musical who’s trying to sell you a magical elixir—except, here’s the thing, I love it? I tell you, if I’m gonna buy me an elixir, it’s gonna be from this motherfucker. Then I would be the fat jolly guy in the crowd who climbs onstage and tries the potion and then, holding my lapels jauntily, I would burst into song, going, “Your elixir, good saleman, has done what it should/ I’d give a stout day’s ha-penny for that, I would!”"
I guess I too shall be the fat jolly guy drinking the elixir. I drink your elixir, Daniel Bejar. I drink it up.
Sorry Without alcohol I couldn't figure out that you knocked over the stand. we still got it done though. Let me know the plan for your first JP bar experience. J
Love the new tracks. I need to hear more of the new stuff, burn me a disc. I'm working on my bass lines on the acoustic guitar so that Ship High can do an all acoustic show when I get back...
Heyyyyyy east coast band! I took your "advice", and listened to the new songs and I totally dig them! I wasn't sure about LBJ - C but Sunrise and Gravity Jazz are beautiful and I love the echoes of Franz Fedinand in We're Giving Up especially in the switch at the end. You guys are working hard and it shows. Speaking of shows, I'm gonna need to see SHiT set sail to the West Coast some time soon... there a few loyal crew over here a bit too poor to come to you. Plus apparently now I have to stand guard behind concessions to prevent easily influenced staff from doing gross things with the "butter" despite warnings on myspace...
