Hello, I’m Paul Shippey.
I make mandolins, citterns and bouzoukis. Over the past 20 years or so, I’ve made instruments for some great players and great people.
When I’m not sticking bits of wood together I play with a band called ’The Fallen Apples’.
At the moment I’m developing a new range of electric mandolins.

Hi Paul I just wanted to say thankyou again for the octave mandola. It is stunning in its looks and absolutely gorgeous in its sound. It has been much admired by all and sundry.
How are you doing? Just to let you know I'll be recording a new album with my band http://www. myspace. com/snaarmaarwaar featuring my favorite Shippey mandolin. The album will be released around february/march
My new octave mandola arrived yesterday and I have, it is fair to say, been quietly impressed. You may have heard the sounds of rejoicing in Weston Super Mare. I'm looking forward to gigging it.
Thanks for adding us, Paul. Soon the world (well, West Yorkshire) will hear the majesty of one of your mandolas nestling in the bosom of some mighty folk rocking ceilidhs.
Paul, Great to meet you on Sunday, The Mandolin as expected is superb! (and looks really cool in black) Really enjoyed the Fallen Apples, fantastic energy, entertainment and musicianship. A superb afternoon. Hope you were all sober and rejuvinated ready for the evening gig! Hope to see you again soon. Ed
I love that song...THE DOUBLE EAGLE...it reminds me of my childhood in the Ozarks...my mother owned a night spot called Loafer's Corner, I would lay on a quilt near the back door and listen to the bands on the weekends...a mandolin always sounded so happy. Thanks for the add!
Great to talk to you again. Really exited about the Electric Mandolin, Can't wait to get my hands on one. Cheque's in the post (honest!!) See you soon.
It is a fantastic idea. Kinda like Andy Warhol and Velvet Underground. Ha ha. I'll speak to some fellow local artists and see what we can come up with. It promises to be a great show!
How you doing? I will send you the mando next week, I've been meaning to for ages!! I played the ten string on Alasdair White's solo album too and it sounds good: www.myspace.com/alasdairwhite
