This Is Not A Band
Shipwrecked Circus is three songwriters, for a time, traveling on the same road in the same direction.
September 2005 - April 2006:
Ben Lundquist (Minnesota), Melissa Myers (Florida), and Phil Dupertois (California) moved into a Victorian Mansion outside of Boston to pursue individual careers in songwriting and performing.
During this period, Ben, Melissa and Phil individually wrote dozens of songs, recorded loads of demos, and performed with artists such as Gretel, The Cinematic Underground, and Katie Chastain.
May 2006:
Ben, Melissa and Phil formed Shipwrecked Circus, utilizing each other as backup musicians, out of demand to perform their collective material live.
"The beauty of the world," Simone Weil said, "is the mouth of a labyrinth." If we are fortunate enough to find ourselves in this maze, we hope not to endeavor it alone. If it can be walked with one or even two others, many evils can be slain while one bears on, daring deeper and closer.
Shipwrecked Circus is an attempt at this journey in life and in music.
