I'll try to.. write it like the bio part of my website itself, shuffle the deck of my.. life, and play the truthful cards.).. .. I was made by an American mother and a French father. I was born in.. Paris and I grew up in Los Angeles, California till I was six. And.. then I came back to France and went to French and International schools.. in Paris. I left for Jerusalem when I was eighteen and I connected.. with my spiritual roots in Israel. I studied music there at the Rimon.. school_for a couple of years . . ... ..Is this a good start? The more I see from the sites of my favorite musical.. artists I guess .. this is as good a start as any -- unconventional. I've been taught to.. follow the Cartesian way of thinking, the way of the French, putting people.. and thoughts in square and labels therefore I am not free enough sometimes... .. I grew up in a great and original,.. -- sometimes crazy -- in a good way -- family. On my mother's side the.. Artistic Life shows up in all its parts since my grandfather is a.. writer. my grandmother is a painter and a fine jazz singer... My mother is a famous singer and actress with an incredible voice, .and my.. father is a movie producer.. .. I grew up in an environment where whistling or singing out loud at the.. dinner table, or starting to cry at odd moments ­ my mother would play make.. beleive to rehearse her new show -- was as normal as breathing... .. You can understand how my imagination and personality bloomed in the.. garden of such sights and sounds. I was not like many artists who had.. to persuade or even go against their parents wishes in order try the.. artistic way of life. I was pushed and totally convinced I was going.. to be one. I had to be an artist of some kind. Or elseŠ.... .. I am now 28, and I have been very lucky. So far I have only had to do.. what I love since I was eighteen... .. I was only in my early twenties when I came back from the Jerusalem I.. love so much to find myself auditioning in Paris for the musical "The.. Hunchback of Notre Dame". I got the leading role as Esmeralda the.. gypsy girl from Victor Hugo's famous novel... .. The show had a long and successful run in Paris and in dozens of.. French and European cities, and I even played in shanghai and in Beijing,.. .. But it was not only the cities and countries I played in, it was more.. than anything the camaraderie of the wonderful cast of singers, dancers.. and actors, the stage hands, the decorators , the.. directors and all the talent that became one warm family.. in one exotic place in front of applauding audiences as we sang the.. same songs and danced the same steps night after night , and each night.. was still wonderfully different than any other... .. Soon afterwards I put out my first CD album of songs in France "Tous.. les Chemins" which turned out differently than I had hoped it would be.. musically, but one has to start somewhere, doesn't one? It had two.. songs -- "Jerusalem" -- on it which pleased me greatly, and "Ireland".. dedicated to my grandfather... .. I was then chosen for another leading role in a French musical called.. « Children of the Sun » the heart-tugging story of the refugees of the.. Algerian War of Independence in the 1960s, a very different role than.. the enchanting Esmeralda, but here too I learned more in my new-found.. artistic life... ..(I guess that's the point of it all, to learn. Day after day I have.. come to know that the more I learn, the more I realize there is so much.. more to learn and how far I am to having reached « It »( whatever that.. can be) but that « It » IS the journey, the questioning, the unknown,.. being a hundred percent sure of something and the next day believing.. the total opposite, being scared and unsure, all of this tortuous and.. unclear road is my journey , my « It », and that s what makes it so.. exciting and surprising... ..Well I am not to sure of what I am writing here, is this really a bio ?.. .. I go on to last year, where I took out some of my old journals and.. letters and started to write new secret ones to myself, to G., to the.. love that was in my life, I took my guitar, my minidisk and while.. Paris was grey and rainy, I spent my days of winter looking out the.. window with a beautiful view of Paris rooftops (sometimes imagining I.. was Mary Poppins) singing, singing and singing awayŠŠI recorded my.. little bits of songs that would later become my second album « Under.. the Tree ». I feel it so much easier to write when love or « un love ».. enters your life, your entire body and soul experiencing a « too.. plenty » it just has to pour out from some door or another... ..I wrote my thoughts and most personal intimate even embarrassing feelings.. and tried to sing them to a friend, a stranger, my mother ! It was awkward.. to undress myself entirely singing out what I truly am and feel... Frightening yet an incredible sensation of relief to be true to be me,.. not the one I d like to be, or that people think I am, just the.. imperfect, sometimes selfish me... .. I gathered incredibly talented musicians friends in my home in Tel aviv.. and for two weeks, between breakfast, lunch and dinner that I cooked.. for us 6, we arranged rehearsed laughed and enjoyed every second of our.. creation trip and went on for ten days to the studio and just played.. them out to the mikes all together and here it is... Of course it s not perfect, of course I could of sung better here or.. played better guitar there , mixed it differently and so onŠbut I'll.. need some Time to mature and concerts to preform live 'cause that s.. always the best and most truthful way to sing ... ..Shirel.. ..
