Shirim has been performing since 1982. They play hard-hitting traditional klezmer music, incorporating solo jams and klezmerized arrangements of classical pieces as well as original tunes. The band has worked with Maurice Sendak ("Pincus and the Pig,"" available on Tzadik), Ellen Kushner ("The Golden Dreydl" available on Rykodisc) and created "The Klezmer Nutcracker" (available on Newport Classic). They have had their music used by Woody Allen on the soundtrack of "Deconstructing Harry." They have toured in Europe, USA and Canada. Their CDs are available at www.CDbaby.com/all/grd .. .... -
