Here’s what people are saying about Shirley Logan Music…
“WOW!…there is a haunting quality that strikes very deeply in the soul as you listen and take in the whole expression of your music…it rocks you and drives way into the recesses the way a great conversation or feast would.”
David Hahn
College Music Professor
“Shirley Logan is a gifted musical artist with an incredible passion to share her message and talents with the world. In a crowded marketplace full of ‘cookie cutter’ artists that all look and sound the same, Shirley stands out with an authentic style that connects with audiences!”
Chris Parker, Former President
IV Records, Nashville,TN
"Shirley identifies with her life's sorrows, celebrations and convictions so thoroughly and passionately, you'll find yourself learning something wonderful with each song...Shirley is a jewel among type-cast industry stones and is one of the most lyrically poetic and poignant, compelling song-writers to bathe my soul in a very long time…Her passionate and intimate vocals have all the strength of a piece of iron, yet are straight-up battling for first place with the heartfelt tenderness communicated in her music. You'll want to will it to someone to assure it's continued circling of the globe…"

Hello to old friends and, hopefully, new ones!
For those of you who are new to Shirley Logan music, I have been around a while. Over the years I have gravitated to smaller, more intimate settings with the hopes of truly connecting with people. I started “making up songs” when I learned to talk. I played the violin for 13 years until college…dabbled on the piano with the theory I learned from the violin and picked up the guitar when I was seventeen. It just seemed like the natural thing to play my songs for anyone who wanted to listen. After two years of college at ECU, my friends finally convinced me that I should pursue music. When I first moved to Nashville I was intimidated by all the amazing talent here. That may not be professional to admit, but the truth is the truth. I always played, always wrote, and always talked about doing music, but for personal reasons, I moved back to my hometown of Wilmington, NC. in 2001. I was there from 2001 to 2004, but couldn’t get the music out of my blood. I was having great success on the local scene there, and felt convicted to go back to Nashville and try again…this time being relentless in my pursuit to do what I was created to do.
It has been a while since I have had a presence on the net… I have been tucked away, writing new material and living some of the realities that are reflected in these songs. Once again, the gift of music and writing has helped me through some really difficult times. Who I am and Baby Jane are songs from the 2004 ep, but are finally recorded the way I intended. I am excited about the new material and so thankful for the people who contributed to making it happen. Jeff Roach is the extremely talented and (in my opinion) under-discovered producer who helped me to bring these songs to life.
For the first time, I feel that this cd is a good representation of my artistry. I have had several opportunities to record my music earlier, but none of those offers gave me the freedom to record my songs, my way. I was told that I was too mellow or I needed more upbeat songs, but I didn’t want to sound like someone else or change my writing style to be more commercial. The songs that make the most impact on me, are those that come naturally and passionately to the artist/writer.
When trying to decide what genre to choose for myspace, I had a difficult time. I love music…GOOD music. I have been influenced by many different styles and don’t exactly fit into one box. My desire is to write excellent music that will be appreciated by many, crossing over the lines that separate style… songs that are an expression of myself, my experiences, my struggles and issues that are universal to the human soul. I want to write music that identifies with people at their core…honestly.
I look forward to getting to know my new ‘friends’ on MySpace!
