Melanie Schwartz: Portland based HENNA ARTIST, YOGA INSTRUCTOR and DREADLOCKER.

HENNA ARTISTRY

I have my own booth at the Portland Saturday Market (open on Sundays too) from March to December. The Market hours are: Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 11am-4:30pm.
Find me at booth #428 in the brand new section of the market on Waterfront Park. Just look for my bright pink and orange color scheme and the "Blue Lotus Henna" banner.
As well as working at the market, I do birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, special events and personal designs for my clients.
I can also be commissioned for permanent tattoo designs.

My personal specialty is pregnancy henna, also known as belly henna or belly blessings. I love working with mothers and on such large, 3D, moving canvases!
Belly Henna is traditionally applied in the third trimester to ward off the evil eye and provide blessings for the mother and baby for the path ahead. I am honored to be able to bestow such a blessing for women at this stage in their lives...
I usually do belly blessings from my home, but I also provide a package to fit in with baby showers and blessingways.
A baby shower package takes approximately 2-3 hours, during which time I apply a custom design for the expecting mother.
As we wait for the henna paste to dry, I give her a luxurious foot soak to enhance the pampering experience even more.
Once she is done, I henna her guests so that everyone can share in the henna experience on such a memorable occasion.

In addition to providing henna tattoos, I also sell high quality henna candles, henna paintings on canvas, and henna kits for you to try yourself.
My kits contain all natural, finest quality ingredients, are easy to follow, and I guarantee successful results (my instructional video really helps!).

I travel in and around Portland.

*Parties $60 per hour, 2 hour minimum
*Events before midnight $60 per hour 2 hour minimum, after midnight $85 per hour

*Baby Shower Package $120
*Belly Casting with Henna Design $180
*Bridal $60 per hour
*Personal Designs priced depending on the design

YOGA:
My yoga teaching style is dynamic. With 11 years of experience behind me I incorporate my early Iyengar training with classical hatha and vinyasa sequencing.
Recently I've been focusing on private students who I teach from my home. We work on the specific needs and goals of the individual in a relaxed environment.
Private sessions are $30 per hour and can accommodate up to two students at a time.

DREADLOCKING:
I started providing dreadlock maintenance to the public out of a real need in the market.
Bringing my years of experience with my own hair and tried and true methods that I've tested out myself to repair and beautify my clients' locks.
I work from my home, using all natural methods for clean, attractive dreadlocks, and also teach my clients what they can do to best maintain their dreads on their own.
Maintenance is $30 per hour.
