Shiva is 25 years old and was born in the sunnier but rather more turbulent climes of Teheran, Iran. After the revolution, she moved to the Netherlands with her family in the early 80s. Inspired by the classical music taste of her parents and her own Persian roots Shiva eventually starts to play the guitar at the age of 10. First acoustic, classical and spanish and later on the electric one. After obtaining inspiration from pop/rock music bands from the 80s like Depeche Mode and The Cure, Shiva sets out to master the turntables at the age of 20
Most people become known for playing a particular genre pretty quickly as a turntablelist, usually based on what they prefer themselves stylistically at the time. Shiva has so far eluded strict categorization. Her style can be best described as eclectic mix of warm and melodic electronic music. In the electronic music scene Shiva obtains inspiration from a wide selection of artists and producers like Aphex Twin, KLF, Boards of Canada, Isolee, M83, The Emperor Machine, Out Hud and djs like Laurent Garnier, Ellen Allien en Miss Kittin but also from bands like Radio Head, Cold Play and many more

Future Plans: Now, having concentrated on building up solid dj skills, Shivas already embarking on a new path. At the moment she is working on her producer skills. She entered the School of Arts Utrecht to study music & production because her interest has always been more into pop music and live instruments and sounds. Her first remix for French New Wave band Trisomie21 has been released in late 2004 on Maquis Music, a co-production with friend John Consemulder (Keynote, Soma) and her 2nd release, a remix for electro-duo 16bit Suicide and co-production with dj Steffi (klakson), will be released in 2006.
