BHARGAV MISTRY : Started formal training in vocal classical music in 1977 under the guidance of Smt Madhuriben Khare. The Late Shri Sashikant Gundani introduced him to the sarod in 1980. Attracted to the style of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, he went to the master in Delhi in 1991 to seek his guidance and to understand his baaj of Sarod playing.

One rainy day of 2002 in Udaipur, Bhargav Mistry began with the "Atmashataka" (Song of the soul) poem of Shankara and composed it for the sarod. The sarod has a sound that is deep, rich and contemplative. When woven with the clear and vibrant voice of Aparna Panshikar, the combined effect turned out to be magical. Shivoham was born.
"Shankara" was its first album, containing 8 mystical poems from India's most influential mystic : Adi Shankaracharya (aka. Shankara) who lived in the 8th cent. A.D.
The second album, "Peace Mantras", are a selection of 9 Shanti mantras from the Rig Veda. Here, the composition and orchestration are more lush, with instruments ranging from Korea to Iran. To be released on Universal in September 2008.

Thank you for that. I feel I know him from somewhere. He appears totally at peace and is a hermit or Sadhu. Parodoxically, in my country such a man would be called "Homeless" and look upon with pity.
