Shob, professional bass player

Blurbs

About me:

First learning to play the bass at the age of 14, Shob has been a member of various rock and heavy metal bands ever since. Most notably he was the bass player for the group Eths, Keishah and was featured in videos for specialized magazines (“Bassiste Magazine” and “Batterie Magazine”) alongside former bandmate Morgan Berthet, with whom he’s been touring since 2009 as part of their master class project.

Over the past five years, his various experiences have allowed him to share the stage with several famous bands in different shows and festivals. These bands include Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Machine Head, Jamiroquai, Alanis Morissette, the Kooks, Infectious Grooves, Fishbone, Sick of it all, Serj Tankian, Within Temptation, Cavalera's Conspiracy, Biffy Clyro, Millencolin, Iggy Pop, Queens of the stone age, Mnemic, The Haunted, Soilwork, Queensryche, At the Gates,Venom, in flames, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Testament, Paradise lost, Katatonia, Mayhem, Madball, Marduk, Septic flesh, Helloween, Apocalyptica, iced earth, Ministry, Porcupine tree, Slayer, Motorhead, NOFX, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, At the gates, Rose Tatoo, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

BACKGROUND:

He graduated with honours and a major in bass playing in 2003, from the M.A.I. of Nancy (International Music School), where he received lessons from such legends as: Jean Bisello, Pascal Mulot, Franck Aghulon, Philippe Gonnand, Benoit Vanderstraten, Rémy Chaudagne, Dominique di Piazza, Pierre Jean Gaucher, Jean Marie Viguier, and Christophe Godin.

At the end of his training, Shob was offered a position playing bass in MO’s (the jazz band of RP Morellini, head of the M.A.I.) and toured afterward with several bands, such as Keishah (eponymous EP released in 2005), a heavy metal band based in Southern France.

Previously, Shob had earned his first band experience as a member of Cirkus (who shared the stage with famous bands: Out, Watcha, Pleymo and Gojira), and who had recorded an LP called “Contradiktion” in collaboration with Stephane Buriez (Loudblast) in 2002.

THE WORLD’S A STAGE:

In 2006, he opened every show of the European Hed (PE) tour (France, England, the Nederlands and Switzerland.)

An accomplished musician, he put his various talents to work creating an innovative duet in which he simultaneously plays the bass with his left hand and the drums (using his left foot for the snare), all while singing his songs. Never seen before, the band was met with a great success which led them to play over 600 gigs between 2005 and 2010.

Shob also did an Irish tour with the heavy metal band Sikh in 2007, and contributed to the creation of Kubiack, a heavy metal band in which he sang, played bass and co-composed music.

By the summer of 2007, he had joined the famous heavy metal band Eths, as a bass player, and proceeded to go on tour for more than two years in France, Europe (England, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic for the Sziget Fest, the Nederlands, Spain with metal-giants Metallica, Belgium, Switzerland, and Luxembourg) as well as Russia and South America (Brazil and Chile.)
In 2009, Shob played at the Wacken Festival and Grass pop Festival with the band, along with Marylin Manson, Korn, Slipknot and Motorhead.

At the end of 2009, he started a master class tour with his friend Morgan Berthet (drummer for Eths) and travelled around France. The two of them are still currently touring.

RELEASES & CONTRIBUTIONS:

In January 2010, Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) listened and praised Shob's submission for the Method of Mayhem public record.

Since mid 2009, Shob has been working with Hyraw Clothing, featuring his own original tracks for the promotion of the brand.

Along with Morgan Berthet from Eths they released 2 DVDs for “Bassiste Magazine” and “Batterie Magazine,” which contained Shob’s own tracks from between 2009 and 2010.

That same year, he also won the "open tournoi" for "Bassiste Magazine" with his song: "Le Pain".

Shob recorded a DVD in 2008, published in "Bassiste Magazine" with his friend Benja, Watcha's drummer.

ENDORSEMENTS:

At the end of 2008, Shob was awarded a sponsorship with Warwick. In March 2010, he proudly accepted a sponsorship with Pedulla bass guitars, a US hand made instruments company.
