SHOCKING WHITE is a relatively newly formed band with roots in the underground scene of Aarhus in Denmark. In spite of its short life, Shocking White has played several concerts both in Copenhagen as well as in native Aarhus. Shocking White has performed as part of festivals (RECession, Pre-Pop Revo, A Scream in the Dark) and has been supporting names such as Times New Viking (US), Cola Freaks and Thomas Function (US). On their debut album SHOCKING WHITE deals with the "courageous" basal instrumentation (drums, guitar and bass) - a pitfall the group gladly ignores - as it is a conscious choice not to introduce listeners to more than necessary. There is no doubt that the DIY and keep-it-simple method is what tingles the band, which finds its inspiration in all different scenes such as rock, punk, grunge as well as new wave, pop, indie - both in older as well as new forms. The music spans from the catchy and almost motown-like ”Promises of the 90’ies”, which deals with promises given, but never fulfilled, because life went in a different direction - to the anarchistic ”At the Hospital”, with its countless tempo changes and urged vocals - delivers a raw, but at the same time organic feeling. Precisely this finding to the core and the joy of music has been a defining factor behind issuing the debut album as a vinyl record - a format the band believes provide a much more and different musical experience than for example a CD or other volatile formats. "A vinyl-record is anti-zapping-culture" says lead singer and guitarist from Shocking White, Jano, and continues: "If you don't cuddle and turn a vinyl LP, the music stops. It gives you an unique possibility to engage yourself in the music.
