The Shock of Pleasure originally formed in 2004. The group was created by singer/songwriter Robert Romano of Dallas' Stranger than Fiction along with veteran drummer Brent Irish and bassist Shelley Gaither (who was replaced in 2007 by Josh Curry).
In 2005 the group was joined by Kelley Christian as featured vocalist. In addition to being a classically trained singer, Kelley is also a model and actress in the DFW Area and Los Angeles. Her angelic voice has brought the Shock of Pleasure to the forefront of the Dallas music scene.
The Shock combines trip-hop and down-tempo grooves to create this eclectic mix of textures and sound. This is Electro-Lounge Music - a soundtrack to life in the city.
SOP recently completed their debut CD, 'It's About Time,' with producer David Castell (Blue October, Burden Brothers, Pallor). The first single, 'This is a Test' has been featured on the ABC Family Channel's 'Wildfire' and has garnered regular spins on Commercial Radio Specialty Shows across the country, most notably 102.1 KDGE (Dallas). The CD reached 12 on the CMJ (national college radio chart) in February 2008.
On September 16th 2008, 'It's About Time' was released nationally via the Universal Music Group's Fontana Label.

...WHY didn't you tell anyone that 'Not My Angel' came out last week? I was shocked (pun intended!) when I heard 'Superstar' on the Adventure Club at work last night and Josh said it was "off their new CD, available now".
It was, of course, purchased immediately when I got home, and will be put onto a disc to take over my car, as well as my iPod.
