Shockopera has been producing and performing original progressive metal since the '90's. Based in North Carolina, USA, the band has brought many dark and tantalizing themes to local stages, radio and to the world via global internet. Their sound has been compared to many well-known artists such as Dream Theater, Savatage and Iron Maiden. Shockopera has performed alongside such acts as Erik Norlander, Lana Lane, George Lynch, Vinnie Appice, Neil Zaza, and even The Bullet Boys.
Their release of "Sands Of Time" in 2000 - a concept album of love, madness and murder - was an instant crowd pleaser. Followed by an "unofficial" release of "The Seven Deadly Sins" - featuring "Bleeding Heart" in 2003. Shockopera's music has also been featured on ProgPowerUSA compilations and can be heard on many internet radio stations such as their favorite "Progulus" at 365.com
In 2006, Shockopera geared up for ProgPowerUSA - a three-day prog festival that brings top acts to the US every October in Atlanta, Georgia. They produced "The Great Divide" as a concept EP to be handed out at the show. It met with favorable results and much consideration from certain record producers (we won't mention any names as of yet).
Shockopera wrapped up the long-awaited "Ghosts of Whitechapel" and presented it at the 2007 ProgPowerUSA. Featuring the genus vocals of David McBee (Rocket Scientists, Big Dixon, Wojo Bragg). This has proved to be the most satisfying work yet. The album delves into the history of one of the most infamous and unsolved events known to man. Through their original music scores and intelligent lyrics, Shockopera reveals an intriguing account of conspiracy, deceit and horror that's all too familiar to us today.
Shockopera is also pleased to announce that "Ghosts Of Whitechapel" features the vocal talent of Hollywood actress Ashley Laurence of certain horror movie fame (you know which ones).
Stay tuned for more information about future projects and show dates.
