Sounds Like
a little bit of this, a little bit of that. smooth like cat power, jazzy like sarah harmer, folky like ani difranco, angsty like tegan & sara.
With a unique sound that is equal parts jazz, angst, and folk, Shoes for Mabel defies the traditional singer-songwriter genre. Their intricate weave of voice, violin, cello, and guitar is winning fans all around. Lydon's voice has been described as touching upon the "wistfulness of Dido, the angst of PJ Harvey, and the poetic heart of Joni Mitchell (Daniel Cain, Terminal Bliss)."
"Some musicians throw their music out all over the audience; some leave you leaning forward and feeling a little lost. Carrie Lydon and violinist Kate Rickenbacker meet you right in the middle, with lyrics and melody that feel like listening to an old friend, even hearing her for the first time." - queerky.com
In their short history of performing together, they have shared the stage with Erin McKeown, Toshi Reagon, Coyote Grace, the Prince Myshkins, Julie Loyd, and Ripley Caine, among others. Shoes for Mabel has immersed themselves in the Chicago scene, performing at venues such as the Old Town School of Folk Music, Uncommon Ground, The Abbey Pub, the Elbo Room, the Red Line Tap, the Grafton, the Pint, and the Darkroom, among others. They have been featured in various local showcases, including AltQ, Cake Chicago, DykeMic, and Homolatte.

Hey, It's your buddy Mike Falzone (no one says buddy anymore). I just wanted to give you my record, "Fun with Honesty" for free. I'd also like to give you an obnoxiously long hug, but due to our proximity, I don't think that can happen today. Please give it a listen. If I'm ever famous one day, you can say, "Hey! That loser gave me his album for free!..then you can laugh at everyone who paid $20 for it at Best Buy. Have a great day!
