Shawn Duncan is the drummer of choice whose command of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal is equally matched by
an early pedigree in Classic Rock and Soul inspired music absorbed during his formative years.
Currently, Shawn Duncan is behind the kit for the up-and-coming hard rock band, DC4, which includes brothers Matt and Jeff Duncan, the latter who is also a member of metal mainstay Armored Saint. Just added last year to the DC4 line-up is British born guitarist Rowan Robertson, a teenage prodigy who toured at the age of 19 with Ronnie James Dio.
Shawn Duncan balances a dedicated commitment to DC4 with his involvement as a major component of the newly reconvened ODIN, a legendary metal classic from the 1980s of which Shawn is an original cofounder. ODIN was the featured artist in Penelope Spherris’ 1988 documentary, The
Decline Of Western Civilization Part 2.
In the modern day ether of ODIN, an upcoming compilation entitled Best of Odin is on the horizon. The disc will feature a brand new song entitled “Let The Show Begin,” plus a rare live track from the 1980s and an arsenal of studio tracks from each of the band’s studio albums.
Whether as part of DC4 or ODIN, Shawn Duncan appears on no less than nine records as a recording artist, including the compilation CD and the just released companion DVD entitled Hollywood Rocks! from the Cleopatra label. A tour-de-force live drummer with over 500 shows to his credit, Shawn Duncan has performed alongside such musical heavyweights as Billy Sheehan, Macy Gray, Lita Ford, Steve Vai, Poison’s CC Deville, Guns ‘N Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed, and Laurence Tolhurst, formerly of The Cure, among other luminaries both past and present.
Excelling in the worlds of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, yet traveling beyond the limitations of perception, Shawn Duncan has opened concerts for Zakk Wylde’s Pride and Glory, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Faster Pussycat, Keel, Dokken, Warrant, Bang Tango, LA Guns, Alcatrazz, Tesla, Blind Melon, Macy Gray, and a bevy of additional artists.
Most recently,Duncan has played a number of shows with the notable ‘80s group, Gene Loves Jezebel. As the drummer of DC4, Shawn Duncan has recently completed the recording of the band’s new disc, EXPLODE, with producer Joey Vera at the helm. Vera is also the cofounder and bassist of Armored Saint. Shawn Duncan has played with Joey Vera on the concert stage as well as in the studio. Production duties for the band’s last record, Volume One, were also handled by Vera.
Originally released in 2002 on Rising Sun Records, Volume One has steadily garnered critical and commercial acclaim, paving the way for the group’s most definitive record to date, EXPLODE. To be officially released on October 6th, 2008, EXPLODE is shattering industry expectations with
strong presales precipitated by an ever increasing fan base. The ascent of DC4 has increased its velocity; and
with it, the presence of Shawn Duncan as a preeminent hard rock drummer is once again on the rise.
A demanding schedule of live dates continues to be a cornerstone of DC4’s popularity and the promotion of their
