WHO WE ARE....
SBR is a Classic Rock and Groovin’ Blues Band from Central Maine. We are made up of an eclectic group of talented musicians from all over. From Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and yes, even Maine!
Each musician in SBR has spent many years studying their craft so that we could join forces and on that day the musical Gods would converge and create the
SHORT BUS REFUGEES!~
The Creation of….
When SBR was first formed the true dilemma was determining the sound, the genre if you will. Our Bass player leaned toward folk-rock. Our Rhythm guitar player leaned towards more metal. Our Lead Guitar and Drums hooked solid on the 80’s Hard rock. Me, I just wanted to sing!
We practiced many, many songs…and as the fabric of SBR was being formed the SBR sound began to immerge slowly at first and then it just grew by leaps and bounds. The one thing we all had in common from the beginning was our commitment that we would not be common. That was the one sure thing we knew.
Through time many, many great songs have passed through this world and we dedicated ourselves to finding the true gems of Classic Rock. We found ourselves studying old videos of Hendrix, Slye and the Family Stone, Skynryd, SRV, Kansas and exploring new music like Tonic, 3 Doors Down, Stone Temple Pilots…each offering a musical lesson in creativity and expression.
And that is when it happened! The Muse of Music revealed to us who and what we were as a group. Our old school sound emerged with a strong hold on Classic Rock, Funk and Modern Blues. Energetic Drums, Wailin’ Guitar Riffs, Thumpin’ Bass and 3 / 4 part Vocal Harmonies all added up to a unique and impressive sound… the SBR sound!
We have grown into a family. We love to play together in practice and we love to rock with a crowd. To laugh, to sing, to play, and to breathe, it is all the same. We must… there is no choice.
Ladies Gentleman… 2009 is going to be stellar for SBR with You…. HOLD ON!

I am really sorry about your loss. There is know words that I could say that could make you feel better. I waited for a few days to think of what to say but there is nothing comforting about someone you love and knew all these years. I never did get to see your shows although I tried out for the band ,but losing someone isn't easy. I hope your hearts can heal the pain of what you have lost. There will always be a part missing for you guys but his memory will linger on each time you play. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope the pain eases.

I am really sorry to hear about Van!! He was an awesome bass player!! I didn't get to attend many of your performances, as they are mostly in Augusta, but I have been to 2 and Tia's Bday bash this past year. Van was a very friendly and just all around great guy!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will be greatly missed for sure!!
