Shot to Hell is: Aaron Monte (lead vocals and guitar), Brian Stehula (bass and vocals), and Kendric Nelson (drums and vocals). Aaron had previously served time as the singer, songwriter and guitarist for bands, the Dali Llamas of West Lafayette, IN and Bunkhouse Jones, and the Headless Marines, both of Pensacola, FL, where he developed his toneful and raw Telecaster-based guitar sound. Brian worked up his solid bass-pluckin' skills while residing in Madison, Minneapolis and Denver, and by the time he reached La Crosse, was ready to put his solid bottom end talents to good use. After many years away Ken returns to the throne to throw down on the drums. STH is also often joined by lead guitarist/pedal steel player Jon Nygren. Jon's wailin' leads highlight most of the songs on the band's Waking Up EP (2006) and Life In Vain album (2008), as well as their live shows throughout the midwest.
Influences
The Replacements, The Gun Club, Uncle Tupelo, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Johnny Cash, and Johnny Thunders.
Shot To Hell is an independent all-original garage rock outfit from La Crosse, WI--just a stone’s throw from Minneapolis, MN & Madison, WI. This midwestern trio (and sometime quartet) dishes up a strangely familiar yet fresh and eerie original sound. The power of the band lies in its compelling and catchy songwriting that slaps a biting pre-apocalyptic edge onto a solid country-punk-rock foundation. Not as folksy as much of the alt-country fare, the Shot To Hell sound has been labeled as "a happy marriage between early REM, the Rolling Stones, and Uncle Tupelo," and as a sort of "post-punk Creedence/pre-mainstream era Replacements." While these labels may apply, the band’s approach to music leaves them difficult to pigeonhole. Most important is that this powerhouse of songwriting and twang rock brews up a great sound smack-dab in the middle of America’s own backyard. These artists may be shot to hell, but they are keeping rock-n-roll alive--right here in Wisconsin. it’s got a bitter message, and it’s still fast, fun and ferocious. Give ’em a listen! ********** 2006. STH released its first EP (5 songs) entitled "Waking Up." Songs = Ballad of Shot to Hell, Find Yer Own Way, Waking Up, Things Might Improve, Hear It Again. Quadra Recordings. ********** early 2008. STH is completing its second full-length album, tentatively titled "Life In Vain." By summer, this new set of 10 songs will be available, as well as a fully remastered version of the "Waking Up" EP. New songs = Hearse, Master Plan, Things Might Improve, How Many Times?, Dissonant Love, Fallout Now, Crackpot, What Were You Thinkin’?, Cash It In, Honey Wild. Quadra Recordings. ********** late 2008. STH gets back out to playing the bars in support of their "Life In Vain" album and begins recording album 3. . . Stay tuned!

The "Train" Rolls In By Tom Weber Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN
BYRON -- Wayne "the Train" Hancock, whose traditional country music is strongly influenced by Hank Williams and Bob Wills, will perform at 8 p.m. April 25 at the Byron American Legion Post.
Hancock calls himself a "hillbilly with attitude," and says he wants to take back country music from the over-commercialization of recent decades. As a clue to his viewpoint, Hancock is based in Austin, Texas, rather than the traditional country hometown of Nashville.
"I'm like a stab wound in the fabric of country music in Nashville," Hancock has said.
The AllMusic Guide says of Hancock, "A rare breed of traditionalist, one who imbues his retro obsessions with such high energy and passions that his songs never feel like the museum pieces he's trying desperately to preserve. "
Hancock's latest CD, "Viper of Melody," is produced by Lloyd Maines, who has produced albums for Wilco, Uncle Tupelo and the Dixie Chicks.
Tickets are $15, available at the door. Opening act is Brother Music Sister Rhythm. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 7 p.m.

In the interview we talk about his career, the in and outs of The Meat Purveyors, and what he is doing now a days. We are also going to premier our new comedy skit, The Trailer Park Dating Game. This is probably the most extensive skit we have done thus far. The show is as usual filled with music from the likes of The Von Ehrics, Stacy Dean Campbell, Joecephus & The George Jonestown Massacre, OldBoy, Hank Williams Sr, and of course some tunes from The Meat Purveyors. And if that wasn't ENOUGH... we have our pal Jared Morningstar back on the show to read an essay he has written. Of course there is more, but we can't give it away!
