Prepare for unexpected art experiences at the third annual Showcase, in the heart of downtown Tacoma! This 2-day, FREE, multidisciplinary art event celebrates the local and regional exploding arts scene, featuring visual and performing art exhibits and demos, art installations and commissioned performances, all in Tacoma’s urban, museum district.
As a result of our continued civic and community efforts to revitalize downtown Tacoma, we are now poised to showcase our cultural anchors and businesses in conjunction with special events.
Together, Metro Parks Tacoma, the City of Tacoma and Tacoma School of the Arts (SOTA) are teaming up once again to produce Showcase Tacoma 2008: A Cultural Arts Celebration in downtown Tacoma.
Showcase 2008, scheduled for August 8-9, will once again feature interactive art demonstrations from local artists and art education institutions, delicious culinary cuisine from downtown restaurants, live entertainment on (2) music/performance stages, an expanded ArtMart with a special Indie Crafts section, chalk artists, glass blowers, muralists, and much, much more!
The event venue extends from the University of Washington-Tacoma campus, through the Museum District, to Tollefson Plaza.
As we continue building our event and cultivating civic partnerships throughout the downtown core, we recognize our goals are in direct alignment with those organizations vested in Tacoma's future.
