Too many to mention but all the guitar greats: Jimi Hendrix (huge influence), Steve Vai, Eddy van Halen (didn't he just reinvent the guitar in those days??) , Paco DeLucia, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Frank Marino, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Morse, Joe Pass, The Beatles (for all time song writing), Django Reinhard (man.. any time I listen to him I get goose bumps), etc.etc.
Now here's another guitarist I admire... Vernon Reid of Living Color... we met a Namm.. he heard me play.. he posed for picture, along with Reggie Mars .. cool guys..

One of the most amazing events I ever had the pleasure to participate in. Let me tell ya all.... you haven't lived until you've seen and heard some of the all time great guitarists there that night...
BRIAN LONBECK... unbelievable picker.. one of the fastest in the world! Clean, articulate, blindening speed, musical, emotional... this guy is the absolute best!
KID RAMOS ... formerly with the Flying Thunderbirds ... one of the best blues players I have ever heard. Believe it! He plays with such authority, tone and articulation...
HERB REMINGTON ... by now about 80 years old, he is a legend in the pedal steel guitar world. Playing absolutely beautifully, recounting some fun anecdotes, the audience paid this musician the most well deserved respect. He created magic with his playing and we all knew it!
DEKE DICKERSON ... he is the organizer of this yearly event which takes place around NAMM weekend in Anaheim. A well versed musician in his own right, he was the MC, kept the event moving along, played rythm guitar and bass behind some of the acts, and also sang a song or two. Pretty amazing!
I played a 20 minute set there and threw a "little shred" into the otherwise "vintage mix" which I believe was rather well received. The audience surfed, shadowed, bluesed, rockabillied and metaled thru the event with wild abandon. A once in a lifetime event!

Local music awards by a cool L.A. Magazine, held at the Knitting Factory on Hollywood Blvd. Congrats to all the winners. The scene rocked thanks to Deb Stocker of AA.
FRANK MARINO CONCERT!
One of the all time great players, dating from from '70 (Mahagony Rush). Awesome concert at the Canyon Club in Agourra Hills (CA). Frank Marino doesn't come around to often (lives in Canada) but when he does... a must see for every guitarist, no matter what your level is.
WHAT A GREAT GUITAR EVENT GP JUST PRESENTED IN SAN FRANCISCO. Their second annual Guitar Hero Competition. I was honored to be one of the judges, along with guitar legend Joe Satriani, session great and Toto axeman Steve Lukather, former Poison and Mr. Big guitarist Ritchie Kotzen, Rockstar:SuperNova house band guitarslinger Rafael Moreira and Steve Read of Musicians Friend.
Congratulations go to the winner of the award: Trey Alexander from Pennsylvania. His performance was amazing, riveting and entertaining. All 10 guitar contestants were fabulous however. "Shreddie" as she is affectionately called by her fans plays rock, blues, metal, jazz - anything playable on the guitar... original from Germany, she's been living in the US for many years. NYC, San Francisco, New Orleans and most recently Los Angeles.
Okay.. enough of that "third person stuff".. I'm here to hang out with ya all and network, which is very cool.
I get asked all time: "what's my style"... well.. it's a mish mash of everything I've ever learned sofar. I'm basically a rock/metal player but I'm not afraid to throw in a few country licks and "da blues"... gotta play da blues...
I'm kinda a speed freak on the guitar but had to channel that as I went along this music path. Nowadays I'm into composition, texture and still shred shred shred hahaha... keepin' it real..
Using electronica to fuse guitar with contemporary sounds. Programs of choice are: Nuendo/Acid/Reason/Waves and some other toys. The imagination runs wild. Building soundscapes.. moods.. in your face metal ... languished textures... melodic lines... heavy rythms... letting it happen as it happens..

BTW, I'm selling my Washburn 1985 HM-20V. I've been "addicted" to it but being the poor musician I am, I have to reluctantly part with it. Do you know anyone who is looking for one? I was told they are rather difficult to find. Lemme know if you do.
