Hey Shri, glad you liked the imagined village... I play drums myself and working in Istanbul at moment.... we're organising a jam with both western and Turkish drums, jazz guitar, electric violin and some traditional woodwind hopefully... just wanted to let you know you kinda helped to inspire this cross cultural project (along with the Imagined Village of course!) We'll hopefully record the jam and post it on myspace ;~)
The imagined village is a kind of multi-ethnic folk supergroup and I particularly like the mixture of full drum kit with conga's and djembe's layering polyrythms.
and also, as it happens I saw a band called Balkan Express the other day at a local festival called TreeFest in Nottingham... again great drumming and I love the violin played through a pedal! http://www.myspace.com/thebalkanexpress
