Imagine the structure and attention to craft of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers combined with the edge of Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers. Imagine Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie refereeing a battle between Elvis Costello, The Who, REM, Steve Earle, Jeff Buckley and the Jayhawks.
I saw you guys for the first time at Rick's celebration and loved ya! Thanks for doing the show in honor of Rick. He was a very special guy. Hope to see you again soon.
A memorial benefit party in loving memory of Rick Spencer 1957 - 2008 Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Canal Street Tavern
Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm!!
Proceeds will benefit Hospice of Dayton
On January 11th 2008, cancer robbed the Dayton music scene of one of it’s most avid artists and supporters, Rick Spencer. On what would have been his 51st birthday, we plan to honor Rick’s memory with an event celebrating him with the music and musicians that he loved so very much. We will have music (featuring Peggy Welty, Miss Lissa & Company and SHRUG!), door prizes, raffles, snacks, birthday cake, sharing of photos and stories of Rick and his adventures with us all. Please bring your memories and join us as we celebrate him and all the lives he touched with his life.
