Sounds Like
The ideas, opinions and imagination of a young mind that doesn't stop ticking, all in the form of beats, flows, rhymes and lyrics...Although we have been compared to The Ting Tings, Rage Against The Machine, Jurassic 5, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, you decide.
I think it’s about time we held back ShyChlo,
And take a minute just to listen to Psycho.
The two are very different yet rather alike,
One has a Shy, the other has a psyc.
Split personality create a mastermind brain,
Call it smart, call it twisted, or just straight insane.
You may just dub me another Conscious MC,
But you're just basing your asumptions lyrically.
That would be a common misconception,
Coz our lives are based on lies and deception.
But I'm here to stop that, all that will be through,
No gimmicks, no fronts, coz what I say is true.
So here's a little insight into my mind,
I'm hearing it's crazy that I'm still unsigned.
For now I guess I'm just a mastermind with lyrics,
Get you tongue-tied, conduct experiments like physics.
Some call me Hip Hop's saviour, coz I'm here to save the game,
Coz I got these gangsta rappers wishing they were born again.
ShyChlo bring a fresh twist to the Hip Hop sound. Creating a blend of Hip Hop, Rock, Pop Punk, Funk and a few more types of music creeping their way in between. The Kent based genre revolutionists, plan to take over the world one genre at a time.
Fronted by 22 year old MC/Writer/Producer, Chloe AKA ShyChlo. The name "ShyChlo" describes her split personality, ShyChlo/Psycho, ShyChlo being the shy, quiet, girl next door type, Psycho being the explosive performer on stage.
"I wouldn't say we have a specific "style" because we just do whatever we feel at the time. I refuse for us to be put into a box, but at the same time we don't go out of our way to try and be different. We just aim to mix all of our influences and express thoughts and ideas in the form of beats, rhythms and words."
"Musically I call it a blend of Hip Hop, Soul and Punk Rock and that's just a simplified description. It's basically just Music. Music is a beautiful thing, so why limit yourself to one genre?"
"Lyrically I just say what I feel, going beyond the glitz and glamour of the stereotypical "rags to riches" Hip Hop, focusing on issues like Politics, Religion and personal insecurities, I say what everyone else is thinking but are too afraid to admit it."
In 2008, after just months of being together, ShyChlo wasted no time in exposing their music to the people, performing at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend: The Fringe Festival, Ashford’s Create Festival which had an audience of 5,000 people, as well as supporting rapper Akala on his UK tour.
Their debut EP “What’s The Word On The Kerb?” is available on iTunes and has received airplay from BBC Radio One, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 Music, BBC Kent and Kent’s KMFM.
“We're trying to make music a united thing, music brings people together so we plan to utilize that. Bring all kinds of people together rather than just certain groups or "stereotypes." It's not just aimed at "Hip Hop Heads," "Emos" or "Indie Kids" it's aimed at anyone and everyone that loves music as much as we do. Join the revolution!”
