Hello there. Im Sian (pronounced Shan). I grew up among the North Cork countryside 3 miles from the nearest village. My Da was a raving alcoholic Geordie lunatic on the run. My Ma is from London but I have been here in Ireland since I was 3 so I consider myself Irish :) My childhood was really pretty hard. When I was 17 (1997) I legged it to Cork City to escape the madness but by then I already had my own drinking problem and got myself into years of all sorts of trouble. I finally had to admit that alcohol was ruining my life when I was 22. I gave up drinking and struggled for a good few years to regain some sanity. I started writing my first 'proper' songs during this time of recovery. I have been playing guitar on and off since I was 14 and have been writing poetry since I was 7. I started in my bedroom playing along badly to angsty rocky stuff like Nirvana/Soundgarden etc. People told me I was crap but luckily I wasn't doing it for them, I just loved to sit on my bed playing songs that meant something to me. I did this for years until I naturally started writing my own songs and finally got the courage to go to a few open mics. Now I have played in a number of venues all over Ireland, some over sea's and soon all over THE WORLD!!! :) I have supported some 'big names' in Ireland I guess and also some not so 'big names' but big hearts. I have had a little airplay so far being broadcast nationwide on John Creedons Radio 1 show 'Late Date'. I have written mountains of original songs with a 5 track debut EP now available to buy in Plug'd Records, Washington St, Cork and at gigs. I'm doing the best I can to get the album launced in early 2010 but its expensive business so I might be a while. Be patient :) I also toured with reggae musician Natty Wailer for six months. I would love to front a hardcore dancy performance type Prodigy-esque outfit at some stage if I could only meet the right people. Im quite introverted offstage (although it may not look that way when Im dancing like a nutter!) and am more dorky than cool. I'm a super mega-big child at heart and feel that underneath everything we all share the same basic wants and needs and so there should be no need to make anybody feel inferior for any reason. I love to go out dancing to various gigs.Im a big fan of dub reggae, drum'n'bass, pretty electronica, Ska and such.My first word was in Spanish and it was "BAILE!" which means "Dance!" and according to the elder folk I was quite the flamenco dancer as a toddler. Somethings never change. I listen to everything and anything and my influences are too many to list. I have a special preference for female solo artists (probably coz I'm one) My songs are born out of worrying amounts of over analyzing and day dreaming. I'm disgustingly romantic and sensitive if you can manage to get through the ten foot wall of steel I have built up around me. I should probably invest in a lobotomy. I have an unusual need for my own space but enjoy my friends company and love them very much. I can, and have! locked myself in my flat for days watching astronomy documentaries. I love playing my super Nintendo, yes you heard me, my super Nintendo. Retro gaming rules!!! I cant spell and have trouble with my concentration, flitting from one thing to the next to deter boredom. I love sweets. They rock! Most importantly...There is no spoon. ONE LOVE :)
