Nakon više od tri godine dijelovanja, ekipa iz Multikulturnog centra grada Županje je uložila puno truda i napornog rada, a rezultat upravo stoji ispred vas. Doduše, za sada na ekranu, no već za samo nekoliko tjedana – točnije 10.07.2009. (petak) i 11.07.2009. (subota) Vas u Županji očekuje prvi DIY/Hardcore/Punk Open Air Festival!


Kako to obično i biva, županjski bendovi, pa tako i razna glazbena događanja nemaju neko kreativno ime, pa se tako naš prvi Open Air Festival u nedostatku ideja i kreacija zove simbolično Sick As We Are Open Air Festival. Ukoliko uzmete po prvo slovo od svake riječi dobivate nešto nalik S.A.W.A. Open Air, što je dovoljno primitivno za nas županjce – ali simbolizira i njegovu lokaciju koja je vrlo blizu rijeke Save koja protiječe kroz grad Županju. Tako je ovogodišnja lokacija prvog S.A.W.A Open Air Festivala na gradskom Hipodromu, nedaleko od gradskog kupališta “Poloji”, te pomalo udaljen od stanovnika i samog centra grada.

We are richer by yet another open-air festival! It’s called Sick As We Are, and it takes place in Županja. So Županja has got an underground festival of its own! It hasn’t, in fact “got” it, since festivals do not drop down out of a clear sky. They are a result of someone’s persistence and organizing enthusiasm. The crew of the Multicultural Centre of the Town of Županja are the usual suspects for the festival Sick As We Are premiering in Županja on July 10 and 11.

At first glance its name may not strike you as too appealing but the probable aim of the festival is not to draw large audiences but a selected HC/punk crowd.

As it happens, its name not only reflects the mood of the HC scene in Županja, which is black, just as it’s supposed to be, but it also alludes to the very spot it is held on - the bank of the River Sava. More precisely, the festival will take place at the town’s racecourse situated not very far from the public beach Poloji, away from the inhabitants and the town itself.

Twelve fierce bands from Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Austria will appear on the festival stage:

• Aktivna Propaganda (Ljubljana / Kranj, Slovenia),
• Deafness By Noise (Samobor, Croatia),
• Motus (Zagreb, Croatia),
• Børedøm (Graz, Austria),
• Diverzija (Osijek, Croatia),
• Ljubiša Samardžić (Zagreb, Croatia),
• In-Sane (Ljubljana, Slovenia),
• PasMaters (Pula, Croatia),
• Hidden Layer (Zagreb, Croatia),
• New Dead Project (Budapest, Hungary),
• Bakterije (Čakovec, Croatia),
• Reanimacija (Pula, Croatia).

Apart from concerts, S.A.W.A. also prepares an exhibition of photos taken during the student protest about free education in Zagreb and Osijek, an action called “Food, not bombs”, a few DIY distributions where you’ll be able to buy various T-shirts, CDs, badges, stickers, fanzines etc, and some theme showings and listenings as well.

Where?

The first S.A.W.A. Open-Air Festival will be held at the town’s racecourse Županja at 110 Mladena Pozajića, 32270 Županja, not far from the public beach Poloji. For the exact map, see the web site.

When?

Friday, 10 July 2009 and Saturday, 11 July 2009 from 6:00 pm until late in the night…

How?

Follow the levee of the River Sava on foot or drive there following the signposts especially put up for this event (see also Google maps: XYZ)

Admission?

Free of charge for everyone willing to come and support this musical event held in Županja for the first time

Camping?

Free camping within the special camping site for all visitors of this year’s festival

Food and drink?

We’ll try to provide some basic nourishment during both festival days. We maintain that there will also be enough booze - you’ll have to put in extra effort in order to make it scarce…

Toilet facilities?

Chemical toilets will be put up within the festival site, so we kindly ask all visitors to use them taking into consideration their hygiene and good working order…

Cleanliness?

We kindly ask all visitors to take care of the festival site but also of the environment and nature surrounding it. All trash, glasses, bottles and everything else should be disposed of by using bags intended for those purposes since in this way you contribute greatly to the quality, cleanliness and tidiness of the site. Besides, we are supposed to leave the site in its original condition in order to be able to organize this excellent event next year as well, which we believe you all wish for…
