Sidecar started out as a side studio project back in 1997. At the time, Ken Negrete owned Jabbz recording studio in Long Beach and the Sidecar recordings were mostly composed of on-the-fly collaborations with the musicians coming through the studio. Eventually, a core group emerged out of all the collaborations and what started out as a side project began to take form.
The group's sound evolved throughout the years and each release has the imprint of its featured collaborators. In this way, Sidecar remained true to its beginnings and original intent to bring new songs to life through collaboration.
Sidecar released their LP, Songs from another cupboard in 2001.
The core of Sidecar, Ken Negrete (familiar trees) and Lili De La Mora (the year zero), together and apart, continue to express their creativity and passion for music by being part of various projects.
