With a base of roots music: blues, bluegrass, Russian, gypsy, punk and other styles the Medicine Show (now known as The Sideshow Tramps) has created a sound spanning the globe but best described simply as Rock and Roll. The Sideshow Tramps is peasant music played for the elite as well as elite music for peasants. Audience savvy and interactive, the band builds their listeners into a festive rush of adrenaline, even marching the audience from the venue, outside, and down Main Street in a jubilant pied piper parade at the 2005 Houston Press Music Awards showcase. The Sideshow Tramps have attracted an entourage of misfits and sexy young dancers almost as entertaining as the band itself. When the Sideshow Tramps hit the stage one gets the feeling the circus has come to town. At one moment the crowd may be treated to a tattered version of Rocky top complete with Muller's blistering banjo and McNeil's unlikely mandolin works, and the next moment the seductive drive of a gypsy dance, then on to the punk anthem Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah or any number of the bands many original compositions. The band is planning a new C.D. in July recorded at the historic Sugar Hill studio.
Hey Tramps. As promised, I wore your shirt during The Running Of The Bulls. The Spirit was with me because on that day, I was sharp of mind and swift of foot. I was delivered through the treacherous run unscathed and with no gore wounds! OLE!
Miss ya! Even if you have all morphed as a band since I am gone.
PS: There is a saw player in tiny Arles! Made me think of rainy afternoon on the UST crumbling porck when we played with Sister Clare...I am just keeping it interesting and complicated the old-fashioned vera way. bissoux, vera
