SideSlip is an acoustic alternative rock trio based out of Charleston WV. We perform many original songs and a variety of popular music from bands such as Matchbox20, Staind, Stone Temple Pilots, AlicaNChains, Nickleback, Incubus, and quite a few others. But in our originals you can hear an uncommonly unique sound -- and one that has impressed many a skeptic.
Lead singer Scott Lavigne pulls his live performing experience of lead vocals and guitar from former bands Good Question, DownState, Driving Blind and Distal. His years of gigging have made him not just a strong vocalist, but a powerful frontman.
On Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar and back-up vocals, Steve McConihay brings a multitude of talents from 4 years experience as sound engineer for the Sound Factory in Charleston where he worked with national artists like Chimaira, Lamb of God, God Forbid, Byzantine, Split Nixon and all of the local bands, as well as his own live performances as an original member and Bass Guitarist for bands Halogyn, Blue Light Karma, Atomic Jo and Identity Crisis and guest spots with popular locals Taste Like Chicken, The Pharmacy, Turtle Patrol, The Mothman Project, Trout and Doubting Thomas and the True Believers and more.
New member C. Bryan Lavigne, who joined the group in June, is a newcomer to the local music scene, having only been seen previously in several garages and musty basements playing for defuct bands such as Garr, King of the Forest People, and the Industrial Revolution and Violent Buddhology. He brings a singular rhythm on the guitar and back-up vocals, as well as original music of his own.
Our original music features songs "Driving Blind," "Dream," and "Think About It" (aired on FM105, 98ZRock, and X106 with DownState,) and the newly mastered "Tomorrow," "Regret," "My Life," "Love Came Down" and "Learning to Breathe." Bryan's tunes include "Hooked," "She's Not the One," "Babylon Fell," "Up To You," and "Catch the Moon," some of which can be heard in rough form on his solo MySpace page.
SideSlip is a band to be reckoned with! Come to a show and we promise you will not be disappointed.

SPECIAL THANKS to Nick Harrah and the wonderful people at "The Gazz" Charleston Gazette for the video interview available by clicking on the picture on the right. It was fun and we hope to run into them again. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. (Scott adds: No, I'm not really that big! It's some kinda camera voodoo having to do with the cinema view and the shot angle and....see, Steve looks bigger too, it's the camera and...no, really, it's.... Damn it!!! I'm headed for the track. Support group anyone?)

ADDITIONAL GRATITUDE goes out to Jennifer Nugent and the hip crew of "Graffiti," West Virginia's News Alternative, for the glowing review and for making us Band of the Week in the July 19th issue. (Although Bryan is still...still...grumbling about the one little misquote about him not writing his own music. We keep telling him it doesn't matter, but he just won't let it go!) My scanner's broke, but I got a usable picture out of my camera. Just click the thumbnail on the left to read the article.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled back slapping for this special announcement:
Our buddy Matt Wolfe is planning on learning the songs and sitting in as alternate and lead guitarist when he's not busy with his band Byzentine. (Yeah, we know, he's the drummer but we've heard from reliable sources that that he's even better on guitar -- shhh...it's a secret!) And when we all get together it's gonna be scary wicked! I can't wait to see what comes out of this. We may even get a kit for him, stick a bass in Steve's hands, and really blow you guys away. Momma always said SideSlip is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get. We look forward to seeing everyone at the shows!
