Side Stream is a pocket sized, bi-monthly poetry publication created and edited by New Zealand poet Miriam Barr in Auckland.   True to NZ's No. 8 Wire philosophy, the 16 page zine is handmade out of one A3 sheet of paper cut and folded into booklet form by a group of volunteers. 

Side Stream was started in February 2007 in a bid to provide another avenue for poets to share their work and to make poetry more accessible as an art form.  Every two months Side Stream delivers a delectable array of shiny-new poetry, and is distributed for FREE.

Side Stream was initially self-funded by the editor. It is now funded via donations, proceeds from events listings and the odd private sponsor. To make a donation or sponsor an issue please contact the editor.

Please send only your best work.  The editor is looking for poetry that is interesting, has something to say and is different in some way as well as cover art.  SEE BLOG FOR GUIDELINES - guidelines MUST be followed, so read them carefully.

You can also promote events, your work or yourself in Side Stream, for a small fee.  The proceeds from event listings go towards meeting the costs of printing Side Stream.

Side Stream wants to meet -

• people who want to donate lots (or just a bit) of money to help out with funding
• people who want to get involved in any way

This is a project set up to serve the poetry community, to get poetry out into the wider community, so its production is also community based.
