With a federal court victory earlier in the day, what was slated as a volunteer appreciation dinner served instead as a small celebration and a reminder that there is still much work to be done in Aurora. Hundreds filled the Wheatland Community Park in Aurora, IL to give thanks and praise to God and to the volunteers of the Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood. The mood was upbeat and optimistic, with constant talk of that morning’s federal court decision that keeps the nearby Planned Parenthood abortion clinic closed for now. But an equally constant message was circulating – that the struggle against Planned Parenthood is still underway, and numerous battles await local pro-lifers in the days, weeks, and months following this temporary victory.
The Paul Avers Band provided musical entertainment in the opening hours of the event. Eric Scheidler of the Pro Life Action League then introduced Illinois State Senator Chris Lauzen, who urged the crowd to vote for pro-life candidates, in both local and national elections. The night was capped by speaker David Bereit, founder of the ’40 Days for Life’ Campaign, who has recently traveled across the country to inspire pro-lifers into action. He gave a rousing talk, informing the crowd that the entire nation has been following and is inspired by our fight against Planned Parenthood. David stated that our victories in Aurora could serve as a “tipping point” in the nation-wide struggle against Planned Parenthood, and called on everyone to pray and fight even harder to rid Aurora of Planned Parenthood and defend life
************************************* MORE DECEIT FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD
September 19, 2007 – Investigation into PP’s Supposed “Public Notice” to Aurora Earlier This Year *************************************
How could he possibly hope to pull this off? Well, he now claims that Planned Parenthood took out newspaper ads and held a public hearing to inform the community of their intent, and takes every opportunity to sell this story to the media. Trombley apparently assumed that nobody will take the time to validate his claims (which makes sense, considering the typical media outlets rarely question what PP says). Well, Mr. Trombley was wrong this time, and what we find shows once again that Planned Parenthood’s M.O. is to deceive at every turn…
Trombley is quoted in yet another newspaper below, giving the impression that Planned Parenthood used newspaper notices and public hearings to make their intentions well know to the Aurora community:
Well it took a lot of searching, but we finally tracked down the newspaper ad that Trombley loves to talk about – the ad he sells to the media as “proof” that PP made their coming presence known to the citizens of Aurora. This is the April 20, 2007 edition of the Chicago Sun-Times, where the ad was placed for just a single day. If you’re having a hard time identifying the PP announcement in this picture, you’re not alone – the newspaper ad that Trombley holds up as a shining example of PP’s desire to be known is easy to miss. VERY easy to miss.
First, not only did we have to track down the lone edition of the Sun-Times to carry the ad, but it was buried deep in the paper on page 74 of the not-quite-headline-news classified section.
But even if you find the right page, on the right day, in the right paper, you still need some help to find the ad. It isn’t exactly placed in a high profile location – it’s the one to the left of my finger in this picture, between a summer food program advertisement and Ziggy.
I’ve outlined the advertisement in red to make sure you have the right one – yes, this flashy ad is how Trombley supposedly heralded the coming of Planned Parenthood to Aurora.
I actually had to blow the ad up to LARGER THAN ORIGINAL SIZE so you could read it. Notice that the words “Planned Parenthood” are mentioned only once within the lines of legalese – odd, considering how Trombley plays up the advertisement as Planned Parenthood’s big announcement to Aurora. Also notice that Planned Parenthood didn’t even put the ad in the paper! The advertisement was a legal necessity for the bond hearing, and was placed in the paper by the Illinois Finance Authority… NOT by Steve Trombley and Planned Parenthood. And the “public hearing” that Trombley has referred to in the media? Well we now know that it was a bond review to help Planned Parenthood finance their new building – not exactly the kind of event to actually attract the public. And the meeting was held in Springfield, IL, a distant venue for Aurora citizens located in the outskirts of Chicago.
The deceitful nature of Trombley’s claims become even more evident when we recall
the smear ad placed in the Aurora Beacon by Planned Parenthood. Here are some side by side comparison of the smear ad from the Beacon and the classified ad Trombley touts as their big announcement to Aurora.
The classified write-up is dwarfed by the full-page smear ad that PP placed in the Aurora Beacon – their misleading image of a charred abortion mill is as large as the entire “public notice”! And the Beacon ad was placed in section A, page 8 of that paper – a far cry from page 74 of the classified section.
I’ll end this with a few questions for Steve Trombley and Planned Parenthood:
1) Why was your “public notice” smaller than a playing card and buried deep in the classifieds section? You ponied up the money for a full page smear ad against the pro-life citizens of Aurora – why not make the same effort to inform them you were coming in the first place?
2) Why place a “public disclosure” for the citizens of Aurora in a Chicago newspaper? You sure knew to place your smear ad in the Aurora Beacon when you really wanted the citizens of Aurora to get your message.
3) Why is the notice signed by the Illinois Finance Authority when your media interviews indicate that Planned Parenthood published the ad? Maybe you didn’t actually want that ad out there, but you
took a risk in order to grab more money from the IFA. I would have expected that PP logo (the one that’s jumbo-sized in the smear ad) in any advertisement you actually sponsored.
I’m not really expecting Trombley and Planned Parenthood to send me any answers... but I know enough not to trust them if they did.

NOTE (8/25/07): Planned Parenthood is attempting to open their largest abortion facility in the country right here in Aurora, IL.
Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood is a grassroots coalition of citizens who oppose the Planned Parenthood facility set to open Sept. 18, 2007 at 3051 E. New York St. in Aurora, IL.
We believe that Planned Parenthood is bad for our community, with a long track record of undermining parents, leading young people into unhealthy sexual behavior, and above all taking the lives of unborn babies through abortion.

The Women's Centers of Greater Chicagoland is a not-for-profit organization, whose purpose is to reach desperate young women with a message of hope and help. Many young ladies and families are tempted to use abortion to solve the problem of an unexpected pregnancy--resulting in greater long term physical, emotional, and spiritual damage to the participants, as well as the death of the unborn child. At the Women's Center, we ask, "Why can't we love both, mother and child?"
