From a source of Chicago Hip-Hop History. Timeline written by Kevin Beacham 2001; re-presented on-line by Galapagos 4: 1993 - Must have underground tapes by Stony Island "Slowly On the Southside" (3 song demo) & The Grass Is... (You Can't Bluff Father Time or Fool Mother Nature EP) were in regular rotation in many a walkman and car stereo thru out the city. The best way to get your hands on one of those gems was to catch them at one of their shows: Hip Hop Phenomenon: On March 5th, Zore & Rafa give a Graffiti art exhibit. They hads some of their work on exhibit, a room with a full wall burner top to bottom, a full size wall piece of Afrika Bambaataa done by Rafa and a few blank walls for Writers who came thru to put their work up on. All that plus performances from the likes of Dead Poets Society, Knomadz (their first show), Stony Island, Ang 13, & The Grass is... BELIEVE IT OR NOT. the Sidewalk Skolaz started in 1988. consisting of (producer) Beatdaddyfish and(MC) Gspot the duo met each other in hi skool and started performing at partys and open mics calling themselve The Grass Is... and releasing thier first EP(recorded @ The Wild Hare. also the first ever live hip-hop recording released in chi) " You cant bluff Father Time or fool Mother Nature" in 1993 under the same name. in 1996 they started using a more traditional appraoch to hip-hop using samplers and turntables(everything else up to then had been performed live. with like real instruments and s**t) and decided to change thier name to the Sidewalk Skolaz. after recording 3 albums in thier home studio( Fish's spare room and storage closet) during '95-'98 and using chi's finest DJ's( 33 1/3rd, 3rd Rail, Precyse) they hooked up with DJ Mary Jane to record (and release this time) a 20 track full leangth on cd titled "Seek out truth" in '01. it was the bomb. although Mary Jane left the group after the recording of the record the original Skolaz continued to do shows all over chi. in '02 the duo finally found a DJ that could hang with the innovative and sometimes abstract jazzy style of the skolaz production and arrangements.(DJ) Form took to the style changes of Skolaz as easy as a drunk chick on rufi's and the three started recording thier lateset greatest album " Science is good" in '05 @ EV Productions. released on Organize Records in july '06 the 16 track album is damn f**king good and premiers guest chi artist MC's: Pugslee Atomz, Demonology(of the Knomadz ), and Lyric IL A.K.A. Bobby Lovelock(of IL). production wise Beatdaddyfish primarilaly tried to sample chitown jazz/fusion artists such as Eddie Harris and Ramsey Lewis but also samples from NY's Ron Carter to Cali's Chet Baker to Pourtugal's Antonio Carlos Jobim. Gspot's lyrics range from party bragadocious"kick that style" to deep social introspective"Think about it". (DJ) Form cleverly scratches in those hard to get to areas with style using wax and Finalscratch. Sidewalk Skolaz :" We do this 4life. not a past time or hobby."

Modern guacamole comes in a variety of forms and the same can be said about Fresh Guac. Letís not get it twisted, the 2 are completely different. For one, you canít eat hip-hop music, but you can dip your hips, much like you can dip the chip. Furthermore, you can rock out to both the edible version of Guacamole and the audible version at a party. So, we feel the title is just and well worthy of comparison. The Spaniards stole the recipe from the Aztecs and they stole the musical version from NYC, but it all equates to good feelings, vibes and relativity. As you listen to this record, think about the metaphor between the edible and audible GuacamoleÖItís made from the heart, soul and culture from which it originated. The sound is undoubtedly fresh and without comparison, so when you finally get the chance to indulge, youíll know its Fresh Guac!
Hey G Spot!! My man!!! "Ice Cold" is the joint!! I love the way y'all freaked that loop. Skinny, I'm diggin' the scratches on all the joints!! Hip Hop music is sorely missing this fading art. I needs me some of that on my joints!! Keep repping that Chi Rock Hip Hop!!
