About me: Sidewind Circus is a new organisation based in Manchester and North Wales run by Matt aka Lousch and Emily aka echec. We provide basic to advanced circus skills workshops to schools,youth groups,businesses and to anyone who wants to learn. This is done in addition to circus demonstrations and performances in lots or different things ranging from fire poi/staff/juggling, stilt walking, Powerisers(jumping stilts), acrobatics, acrobalance, unicycling, globe walking, glow diabolo, glow juggling, ball spinning, balancing, devil sticks. It is our belief that circus arts serve to promote creativity, strength (both physical and mental), flexibility, confidence and freedom of expression through a medium which is easily accessible to anyone on many different levels and fun.
Matt has an OCR national diploma in circus and performance arts media from Circomedia Bristol college,specialising in acrobatics,acrobalance and aerial (trapeze,doubles trapeze and spanish web).
Emily has OCN Level II and III qualifications from Greentop Circus Centre, Sheffield, specialising in equilibristics, acrobatics, performance, clowning, and contemporary dance. She also has a degree in Politics and Contemporary History from the University of Salford and completed an industrial media placement with channel M.
We have both done a range of performances and workshops using a variety of skills and teaching a range of different people. Furthermore, Matt works as a teaching assistant at Mannor High School, Sale, a youth worker for Aspirations(autistic society)and YPAC youth project in Ancoats. Emily is as a support worker for Anglesey Council's Specialist Children's Services and also works as an entertainer at Greenwood Forest Park, Felinheli.
