One of the longest-running folk festivals in the UK (now over 50 years!) Sidmouth FolkWeek happens from Friday 31 July - Friday 7 August 2009.
If you've been before, you'll know all about having a whole week filled with a fantastic selection of music, singing, pubs, seaside, dancing, more pubs, and sitting up late on the campsite with brand new best friends. The choice is yours because - as Jim Moray said – ‘The important thing about Sidmouth, as someone who has attended most years of my life, is that it doesn’t belong to “them” in the way that other festivals do, it belongs to everyone to make their own thing out of.’
The full programme is available to download now from sidmouthfolkweek.co.uk
featuring over 500 concerts, dances, workshops and events.
We think this might be our most award winning line-up yet, with the likes of Jim Moray, Jackie Oates, Lau, Spiers and Boden all recipients of several BBC Folk Awards in recent years.
This year at Sidmouth there's a whole new area called The Hub. The entire Port Royal and Ham area is now a new performance centre, bringing together the extended Ham Concert venue, the Ham Lawn (where you can eat and drink), an open mic stage and a pedestrianised area with dance displays, the Festival’s own brand of street theatre and the Festival Box Office. Come and visit The Hub every day.
