About me:

We call upon the future leaders of America to join us in protest of the unconstitutional legislation in the U.S. Congress that targets Latin Americans, Asians, and other non-Europeans who seek the freedom and democracy offered in this nation. We formally denounce the labels of illegals, criminals, and terrorists associated with any immigrant who is not assimilated into the American mainstream. A nation founded by immigrants, for immigrants, cannot in good conscience create legislation openly oppressive to ethnic minorities. For more than 200 years, American leaders have instituted laws to keep undesirables out of this country. These laws were passed out of fear and ignorance. The racist overtones of these laws are inescapable; America must learn from past mistakes and accept the grand diversity of this nation. Multi-ethnicity has built our national landscape. It has been imported minorities who have been used to drive the expansion of our capitalist economy; only after the tortuous, dangerous work was done did these immigrants become unwanted: Chinese on the West Coast, Irish and Eastern Europeans in the Northeast, African-Americans in the South, and Latin Americans in the Southwest. For a national legislature dominated by Americans of Anglo-European descent to discriminate against immigrant workers is the height of hypocrisy. Our national heritage is founded on the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of immigrants in America to determine their own future. Everyone who settled North America was an immigrant! Forcibly keeping out immigrants and punishing those who reside in the U.S. and substantially add to our economy is not the solution to the problems of our nation. American citizens cannot change national ideals to accommodate fear-mongers. These words on the Statue of Liberty cannot be tossed aside because of self-serving political agendas: Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free A wall constructed along our southern border is a tool that will divide good neighbors. We stand to unite: SIEMPRE UNITED. We call upon the nation to embrace our common past, the ethnic diversity of our population, and the ideals of citizenship enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Without exception, an American is of any color or creed. We, as the future leaders of America, need to take the necessary steps to realize the unfulfilled goals and idealism this country enshrined in the U. S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. This is why SIEMPRE UNITED was founded, to acknowledge the greatness and idealism of Americas past, but with optimism for Americas future; a future we envision as a place of optimism, diversity and tolerance, the true ideals of America.

Below the flyer is some more information about April 10th's "National Day of Action for Immigrant Justice"

www.April10.org

The National Day of Action for Immigrant Justice Coordinated by the National Capital Immigrant Coalition in Washington, DC and hundreds of grassroots organizations around the nation, immigrant communities and allies will engage in the largest mobilization for immigrant justice in our nation's history.

While millions of immigrants have worked hard, struggled to do right by their families, and have tried to survive despite Americas broken immigration system, some Members of Congress have focused on scapegoats instead of solutions. Unfortunately, Congress is on the verge of passing an immoral and dangerous immigration law that would make our nations immigration matters worse, not better.

Our goal is to stop anti-immigrant legislation from becoming law and to pass real, comprehensive immigration reform that provides a legitimate path to earned citizenship, unites families, and ensures workplace and civil rights protections for all.

i tried to email every lesbian between the ages of 20-29 who were in college but half way through this attempt I starting recieving replys from angry republican chicana lesbians, , which makes no sense to me...but it happened. so i gave up...but i've done the best i can so far to spread the word..i emailed a couple radio stations here in town to spread the word, , but i think we need to start calling in instead of email. and i think more people should do this to to make a point that it gets on the airwaves before the 10th.
