What is Sight Sound Word?
The purpose and mission is based in Psalms 33:3 KJV “Sing unto the lord a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise”.
Simply put; we are to serve the world with music to heal. In volatile times, it has always been music to inspire, motivate, uplift, and empower the masses. Bob Marley believed that he could literally heal the diseases of racism, depression, bigotry, war, cancer and poverty mind-set with music! He left earth with work to continue. Sight Sound Word has answered the call. We believe that the world can be healed with one song, one listener, one heart, one body, one soul at a time.
It is not coincidence that the verse Psalms 33:3 was revealed. Please don’t take this as being religious or anything, but ask any artist and they will tell you things just come to them in the most strangest of times… If you look at the word Psalms…It is the Greek word for song. If you as a d.j. who still plays vinyl, what are the rotations per minute on his records? They will most likely say 33/3 or 33 and a 3rd. Song at 33 and a 3rd. (Psalms 33:3) This is not to get “deep” but I also do not believe this was a “coincidence”. – Eriq Troi
The general definition of S.S.W. is to be synonymous with excellence in performing and recording arts. Combining spoken word, music, dance, and visual arts, is the key elements to the “sight”, the “sound” and the “word”.
Sight Sound Word was born December 18th 2005. The very first show was a variety show and artistic network. Since then S.S.W. has evolve by accident in to a production company. Yes by accident. Founder, visionary, and creator Eriq (Erique) Troi wanted a local network of performing artist to combine talents, resources and efforts to make a “scene” in Akron. It was the meeting with Brian “Kenneth Wallace” Armour three years later that changed the direction. He made an observation of present resources and skills and came up with the idea of “record label”.
Now there is a steady recording of 5 artists. The first to the world is E.H.G. (Elemental Hard Groove). This will be a project of recorded emotions spoken by the instruments themselves. This is a band effort to combine jazz, funk, blues, electronic, gospel, dance, rock, and classical into hybrid-music that only YOU can name. There are live recordings included to keep the listener participating in the experience. You can sample their work, pictures, and bio at http://myspace.com/ehg09. The upcoming double project “Live From The Basement” is raw music and a groove experience. It was recorded purposefully with a microphone in the middle of the room to bring the audience to the basement and to the beginning of the journey. “We wanted to let people know we are not just sitting behind a computer and pushing buttons. We can actually play. We are a band” says Kenneth Wallace. The second part of the project “From The Basement To The Heart” is the actual studio recorded project. “This project we hope people enjoy the music but realize that we are producers as well” says Eriq Troi. This cd will also give sneak previews to up-coming solo project by Kenneth Wallace, Eriq Troi, Les Dave, and newest addition Andrea West.
