is a Glasgow based gig night run by Bjorn, Erik & Stevie.
Silence... used to be a monthly night run out of The Captains Rest but we've recently moved home and are now booking gigs in Mono, Kings Court. We aim to bring great touring bands to Glasgow and provide good supports from our favourite local bands. We take care of the promotion and ensure all the acts are paid for their performances and provided with food & drink and a place to sleep.
Our first gig in Mono was with THE WAVE PICTURES, STANLEY BRINKS and FRESCHARD - It was a really fantastic show, thanks for coming down if you did.
Our next gig is on December 13th with TAKEN BY TREES (Victoria Bergsman of The Concretes). Support comes from two amazing musicians - Andrea Marini and John B McKenna. Tickets are available from Monorail and Tickets Scotland.
We had some fun nights in The Captains with these great bands: PETER PARKER ("Swallow the Rockets" single launch), THE FELT TIPS, MLLE. LEAVES, FANFARLO (London), ENDOR, APRICOT (Japan), NACIONAL, THE DIRTY CUTS, PAPER PLANES, WAKE THE PRESIDENT, TOM BROSSEAU (US of A), THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY, DOUG MACGREGOR, PUNCH & THE APOSTLES (performing "Hymn To Death"), MEAT (formerly Meat Pie), RAGS & FEATHERS, MEURSAULT, LES COX (SPORTIFS) - (Newcastle), LYONS, THE RED WELL, SYMBOLICS, THE FNORDS, WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS (last minute un-billed two member acoustic set that no-one saw but was absolutely amazing!), THE CAVALCADE (Preston), COME ON GANG!, SHE'S HIT (the best thing my eyes have nearly seen), MAPLE LEAVES, WITHERED HAND and TENEBROUS LIAR.
We would like to DJ your club night!

Samples of our new Record Kicks single “I’m Sorry (Can I please come home)” & ”The Battle of Yoker” are now up on our Myspace for your delectation. Have a listen!
This Friday 6th November the Privates Hammond Orchestra crash land at the Rio Café with rockin' soul, dance floor R&B and hammond organ rock n' roll. Unleashing fabulous tunes from 8.45 with the band onstage at 9.30.
Hi Bjorn, No problem, we really enjoyed the gig on Friday. Thanks again for having us! :) Hopefully the E.P. will be good to go soon - finished all the tracking yesterday. Including Wurlitzer! Awesome. Hope all's good with you. Maples x
Sorry we had to leave half-way through stanley's set, realised we had to grab our stuff off stage before crocodiles went on so we could make a quick exit for the last bus! but looked like a good gig, hope it went well! Div.
The Privates Hammond Orchestra will be appearing at Shout Bamalama this Saturday night. Doors at 11pm and band on at 11.45pm sharp! Free before midnight and £5 after.
Hello, Just to let you know that Over the Wall are playing for the first time anywhere in two months on Sunday 23rd August at the wonderful Captain's Rest. Over the Wall promise a nice sized headline set (not one of those rush jobs you may be accustomed to) and some surprises thrown in.
Also featuring will be Piano Bar Fight, back from an 18 month hiatus while one of them has been in Frightened Rabbit, and old friends Gdansk.
Doors are at 7.30pm and entry is only £4. All are welcome!
