In 2005, Silencer made the transition from thrash / traditional metal to a more modern sound, pulling European influences while retaining a distinct American flavor. After changing record labels, Silencer released "Divisions" in 2009, which carried a more open, melodic approach to songwriting. The band have toured the southwest and midwest extensively.
Silencer draw influence from Darkane, early Soilwork, Carnal Forge, Mnemic, Devin Townsend, Nevermore, early Soilwork, and several other acts.
