Music
Soul, R&B, Funk, Gospel, Jazz, '80s, New Wave, Electronica, Foreign Pop Songs. My typical musical weaknesses: Motown, Philippine OPM Ballads and New Orleans Brass Band music.
Movies
Contact, Forrest Gump, E.T. (and not just cos it's my initials), This is Spinal Tap, Hero, There's Something About Mary, all of the Star Wars films, Close
Encounters, School of Rock and some others. Believe it or not I haven't seen any of the Lord of the Rings films. I mean, I really want to see them, but my chiropractor recommends I shouldn't sit down for such lengthy durations.
Television
Sometimes "The Simpsons," "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" or the occasional news perograms. That's pretty much it. I don't watch reality shows. Okay, sometimes I watch "American Idol" but it frustrates me cos I know I can kick ass on that show but I'm too old and not of the right skin color to make it on that show.
I watch very little television, and find cable equally vapid. Actually, aside from the Internet, radio is my medium of choice. I can be found listening to Coast To Coast A.M. which is a late night A.M. radio show devoted to such things as UFOs, the supernatural, the unknown, psychic predictions, science fact/fiction and even conspiracy theories. I don't necessarily believe everything I hear on that show, but at the very least it's very entertaining.
Books
The Audacity of Hope, by Barack Obama, God's Politics: Why The Right Gets it Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It, by Jim Wallis; Playing With Trains: Passion Beyond Scale, by Sam Posey; various Los Angeles history books.
Heroes
Stevie Wonder, Fat Albert, Johnny Sokko (plus the Giant Robot too) and the dude on Police Academy who can make all those crazy noises with his mouth.
About me: I wear many hats, yet I'm rarely seen wearing hats. I listen to music. I play music. I write music. Sometimes, I even eat music (it sounds better than it tastes, though). I also care a lot about my community. I used to care a lot about the world but I discovered it's too big to try to do something effective, so I've whittled it down to a considerably smaller geographical area so as it's easier to manage. Wait, this thing is turning out to be like a blog. I hateblogs.
But since I've got your attention, do visit my website at www.elsongs.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Who I'd like to meet: New people that help me do new and exciting things that will in turn produce positive results for us all. I also wouldn't mind meeting people I've crossed paths in life previously and catching up on old times. Oh, and I'm single now, so...

Gather from 6-9am at Hollywood/Western and ride at 9 am to City Hall
to deliver the Cyclists' Bill of Rights!!
There will be swag and Hollywood Pro Bike Shop will be offering bicycle tune-ups, all of which will serve to prep the crowd for a ride downtown to "Bang the Drum" at City Hall where we will deliver the Cyclists' Bill of Rights.
This year, after City Hall we head to the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative at USC for free lunch (gotta register online) and a panel discussion on LA's bike plan featuring Erik Knutzen of the BWC (Bike Writers Collective,) Lynne Goldsmith of the Metro and...us, the cycling community!
It all starts at Hollywood & Western in the early hours, goes to City Hall and then to USC.
Hey, how was your Christmas? I was thinking of you the other day when I saw the Bulls-Spurs game on TV and I saw the Spurs' player whose last name is ELSON! LOL :)
