SilentDez management&marketing is a Brisbane based company that aims to provide affordable and fair management for up-and-coming bands. We also specialize in music photography (both live and studio), film clips, press releases, promotions, tours and/or one-off gigs, negotiation of licensing and publishing deals, and merchandise lines.
Forming in 2006, the idea came to fruition though Derek Griffiths as he was studying at South Bank Institute of TAFE (Diploma in Music Industry: Business). As part of the course Derek was the event co-ordinator for ‘Rock-Stock and Two Smoking Amps', a series of five gigs played in one week by bands made up of the performance class - and a thirst for running the show first appeared.
SilentDez has worked closely with a few bands over the years including CandyPain (RIP), Devilution, and The Rocketsmiths to name a few. Jobs done with/for these bands include designing a merch line, live photography, filming performances/video editing, and general promotion/street team duties. The growth of the business has been steady, with the name/logo now being recognised among regulars in the Brisbane music scene.
The fist act to be officially signed to SilentDez managemen&marketing was Matt Nelson, a soloist from Brisbane trudging through the acoustic scene.
Taken from his bio at the time (2006)
“What he brings to the table, despite his misleadingly youthful age, is a wealth of life experience, and a sensitivity of composition only matched by impressive prowess on the guitar. His live show is already turning heads throughout the Brisbane folk/acoustic scene” Pic by: Fiona Newman
Over the following few years Matt started playing with two other young musicians from Brisbane with a very similar vision - enter Lee Peeters and David Ezzy. After almost a year and a half of playing together they finally emerged into the public as Matt Nelson and the Polyomnipresence. Pic by: Jace Austin
Signing with SilentDez in 2008, Matt Nelson and the Polyomnipresence trudged through Brisbane with their unique style of contemporary, acoustic, Australian, folk, rock. Though they played many shows and enticed many new fans, The Polyomnipresence went their separate ways, shortly after recording their demo CD 'agist'.
Now (2009), once again flying solo, Matt Nelson's thoroughly entertaining performances showcase his unique fingerstyle and compositional prowess on the guitar. His approachable signature style of folk-rock is characterised by sweet, angular hooks and warm, textural vocals which pepper the music with vivid imagery and imagination. Pic by: SilentDez
SilentDez constantly has staff out and about at local music hangouts and is always looking for ways to help build the music community.
