The first installment of the Silent Lapse Studio Diaries is complete! Check it out!
A Huge Thanks to all Our Amazing Fans! We want to thank everyone who came out to the Emerald Theatre gig last night to see us! We can't believe the great turnout despite the fact that it was a Thursday night in Detroit and most of you had jobs to go to the next day! Your showing up really made it a great time and we hope you had one too! Thanks also to everyone who stuck around through the entire show and supported Mellotron and Tiles! You definitely let them know who has the best fans!
As of now we are taking a break to get our CD recorded, but for those who didn't make the Emerald, we'll be at the Ionia Free Fair in July and Music in the Park in August. We'll also be hitting it hard again after the album is complete at the end of the summer! We'll keep you posted on its progress via blogs and probably a video diary that you can watch right here!
A sincere thanks and all the best to those who worked hard to put the show together, the bands, our great volunteer roadies, and again to our faithful fan-base! You're why we love what we do!

Bio:
"The release of this self-titled EP in early 2008 just showcases the raw talent of this band," writes John Kotzian, webmaster of Ytsejam.com in a 5/5 star review of Silent Lapse's 2008 demo release.
This review came only 10 months after the band's humble beginning in May, 2007 in a small farming village where the members milked cows to pay for musical equipment and remodeled a hog barn for practice and recording. Their fan-base has grown consistently since starting, and their continuous musical praise a testament to the band's work ethic and collective talent.
Silent Lapse, at its inception was never meant to be this serious. They formed in Westphalia, Michigan under the name of "STEMM" to play one gig only: the "Ark Summer-Fest," a local music festival that founding brothers Taylor and Mitchell Feldpausch were managing. Taylor would drum for the cover band while Mitchell played guitar. The quartet was completed with the addition of Scott Martin, who handled keyboards and a second guitar, and Matt Schrauben, who would be the honorary bass man and meat enthusiast (honestly, he loves meat in as literal and straight a sense as this can be taken). Only one problem stood: the gaping vacancy in the vocal department which, for some unexplained reason, was of no immediate concern to the band. One of them would just fill in where they could... this should work fine right? Luckily, it really did. Scott came to practice one day with a set of pipes that no one would imagine could come from this laid-back fountain of useless knowledge. Needless to say, he got the spot.
A week before the gig, the band came upon another snag. While Googling "STEMM" to confirm the band's utmost originality, they found a signed act who had the exact same name. Enter name 2: Glass Silo. This gem took its inspiration from a 20-foot high marvel of mid-michigan: a silo made of glass bottles and mortar that stood 8 miles from the band's practice site. An inspirational field-trip to the monument solidified their decision and they played the festival successfully for 300 people as Glass Silo.
Many changes took place after this point. One: the band became seriously devoted to original music and a concept piece that had been on the back burner since STEMM was founded. Two: they decided that Glass Silo just wouldn't cut it and Silent Lapse, a name inspired loosely by the concept, was adopted permanently. Three: the band recruited local electrician Wyatt Aldrich in the hopes that he could also play guitar... and he could, well! The lineup was complete!
Since then, the band has been working tirelessly on completing their concept album, maintaining a strict practice schedule, and playing live as often as possible. From their beginning, Silent Lapse has fed off of those who have told them they couldn't succeed. They are setting out to prove all of them wrong.
