General
I like music. I like the idea of music. I like the way music connects psychology, physiology, physics, mathematics, religion and sex, but I don't mistake it for any one of those things.I like photography. I like the idea of photography. I like the way a photograph describes a section through an actual, ephemeral, lost event, a configuration of the universe that will never be repeated. I like the way a photograph is not that event, the way it misrepresents, stylises and dignifies that moment.
I like photographing musicians. I like the way a photograph creates its own music, sometimes completely divorced from that which accompanied its conception. I like the perfect visual analogies which flit across my viewfinder, especially the ones I commit to film or memory card. It never quite works, though: as one great musician sings, 'the magic of stones, when taken back home, remains on the beach'.

In an effort to help the number of Myspace profiles exceed the population of the world, I've set up another one. Rather than create a new profile for each of my musical projects, I'm combining them under the name SILAB. I like it written in capitals, it's that kind of word.
