Silhouette Brown emerges from the ranks of West London’s musical hub and is produced by the trilogy that is Dego (2000black/4hero/dkd), Kaidi Tatham (Agent K/Bugz In The Attic) and co-writing/production talents of Bembe Segue. In 2005, Silhouette Brown’s first self-titled album featured songstress Deborah Jordan with a sultry blend of jazz and soul. Deborah's best known for her work with London-based avant garde jazz band, Panacea. She has also forayed into the world of underground soul world working as backing vocalist director for songstress Eska, and as backing vocalist for Bembe Segue.
Silhouette Brown guides us towards a new dimension for modern soul music with a distinctively London-esque flair—a touch of melancholy in tone, contemplative yet hopeful lyrics, with enough groove for those looking for that j’ne se qua in their regular dosage of Jazz and “Nu soul”.
Currently joined by the unmistakable vocal sounds of Philadelphia’s Lady Alma, Silhouette Brown’s “two” drops late 2009. Lady Alma has appeared on countless club classics from Sylk130’s ‘When the Funk Hits The Fan’ to Soul Dahmma’s ‘Happy’ and 4hero’s ‘Hold it Down’. Soaring with a distinctive soulful voice from start to finish showing all her versatility and warm spirit, Lady Alma delivers "two" into a relaxed head-nod-soul-experience.
The live band tours across the globe and has performed at various events, venues and festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Roma Jazz Festival, (Italy) Paradiso (Amsterdam) and Cargo (London). Nominations include Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards.
Can't believe the first one didn't blow up massively the way it should of. Must be so hard (but satisfying) to make music like you guys do, but not get the props or financial rewards that it should. You're making tunes that move hearts and minds; and for that, i'm grateful. i'd die without decent music. Just keep doing what you're doing. If you get a second; check out another of those sadly 'under rated artists 'Marcina Arnold' (i went to school with her) (a voice so pure it's unreal!) struggling to make a living whilst so much of the commercial shit reap the rewards of success. But hey, who said life was fair? and if one day you do decide to 'sell out' and make a 'hit' i'll understand man, cos shit! you gotta 'get paid too, cos i know where you guys are coming from and what you're capable of (how do you get from 'Mr Kirk' and everything else in between; to Silhouette Brown??) amazing versatility. Anyways, i'll definitely be spending some of my money on the 'Brown lick 2' when it drops. love to you all.
